Nutrient relations of dwarf Rhizophora mangle L. mangroves on peat in eastern Puerto Rico

TL;DR: Dwarf mangroves on peat substrate growing in eastern Puerto Rico were analyzed for element concentration, leaf sap osmolality, and isotopic signatures of C and N in leaves and substrate, suggesting a more effective rejection of Na than sulfate at the root level.
Book ChapterDOI

Land-Use and Biomass Changes of Forests in Peninsular Malaysia from 1972 to 1982: A GIS Approach

TL;DR: In this paper, two maps depicting the forest resources of Peninsular Malaysia, one dated 1972 and the other 1982, were digitized into ARC/INFO for analysis of spatial and temporal trends.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nutrient cycling in Nothofagus pumilio forests along an altitudinal gradient in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared tall erect, short erect, and krummholz lenga forests in terms of the concentration, accumulation, fluxes, turnover, and use-efficiency of nutrients (N, P, K, Ca, and Mg) along an elevation gradient.
Journal ArticleDOI

Land use history, hurricane disturbance, and the fate of introduced species in a subtropical wet forest in Puerto Rico

TL;DR: A future increase in frequency of disturbance may enable greater stem numbers of introduced species to establish, while lower-mortality rates compared to native species, may allow them to persist during inter-hurricane intervals.
