Being an energy-efficient mode of transportation, electric vehicles (EVs) adoption is a multifaceted mechanism driven by a bunch of factors. However, studies focusing on assessing the influence of personality traits on consumers' information about EVs (CINEVs) and willingness to buy (WTB) EVs are scarce. This study investigates the relationship between CINEVs and WTBEVs by accommodating the moderating role of the Big Five personality traits. Results are based on a sample of 624 respondents in the seven largest Indian cities by employing a comprehensive questionnaire survey. Structural equation modeling is used to test the formulated hypotheses. The results highlight that CINEVs is directly related to WTBEVs. We further add to the existing pool of knowledge by providing empirical evidence that openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, and agreeableness positively moderate the relationship between CINEVs and WTBEVs, whereas neuroticism negatively moderates this relationship. The results uncovered an interesting role of personality traits in propagating EV development.

Relating consumers' information and willingness to buy electric vehicles: Does personality matter?

Solar PV (photovoltaic) technology has gained considerable attention worldwide, as it can help reduce the adverse effects of CO2 emissions. Though the government of Pakistan is adopting solar PV technology due to its environmental friendliness nature, studies focusing on consumer’s acceptance of solar PV are limited in the country. This research aims to close this knowledge gap by looking into the various considerations that may influence consumers’ willingness to adopt (WTA) solar PV for household purposes. The study further contributes by expanding the conceptual framework of the theory of planned behavior by including three novel factors (perceived risk, perception of self-efficacy, and openness to technology). The analysis is based on questionnaire data collected from 683 households in Pakistan’s provincial capitals, including Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Gilgit, and Karachi. The proposed hypotheses are investigated using the state-of-the-art structural equation modeling approach. The empirical results reveal that social norms, perception of self-efficacy, and belief about solar PV benefits positively influence consumers’ WTA solar PV. On the contrary, the perceived risk and solar PV cost have negative effects. Notably, the openness to technology has an insignificant effect. This study can help government officials and policymakers explore cost-effective, risk-free technologies to lessen the environmental burden and make the country more sustainable. Based on research results, study limitations, as well as prospective research directions, are also addressed.

Do Perceived Risk, Perception of Self-Efficacy, and Openness to Technology Matter for Solar PV Adoption? An Application of the Extended Theory of Planned Behavior

Green energy technologies (GETs) are environmentally friendly in nature, making a promising contribution to attaining net-zero carbon goals. Although the Pakistani government has begun using GETs to minimize the adverse effects of carbon emissions, consumers' adoption rate is quite low. There are few studies examining consumers' desire to adopt GETs in the country. This study attempts to fill this research gap and also contributes by adding three novel factors to the theory of planned behavior (i.e., green energy technology awareness, openness to experience, and green energy technology discomfort) to comprehensively analyze the impact of various factors influencing consumers' desire to adopt GETs. For this purpose, the study establishes a systematic research framework. Data were collected from (n = 330) households in the five major cities (Peshawar, Abbottabad, Mardan, Mingora, and Swabi) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province via an inclusive questionnaire survey. The formulated hypotheses are evaluated and scrutinized using structural equation modeling. The results reveal that environmental concern ( β = 0.245), green energy technology awareness ( β = 0.362), openness to experience ( β = 0.256), and green energy technology benefits ( β = 0.225) positively affect consumers' desire to adopt GETs. On the other hand, green energy technology costs ( β = 0.325) and green energy technology discomfort ( β = 0.395) have a negative effect on consumers' adoption of GETs. The research findings emphasize the importance of increasing recognition of GETs, reforming policy frameworks, and providing budget-friendly and user-friendly technologies. Research limitations and future research perspectives are also addressed. • Green energy technologies (GETs) are environmentally friendly in nature. • The factors influencing consumers' desire to adopt GETs was analyzed. • The study establishes a systematic research framework. • The study findings emphasize the importance of reforming policy frameworks. 

Modeling the influence of critical factors on the adoption of green energy technologies

Universities can contribute to economic and sustainable development (SD) in a variety of ways, such as mediating social debates, educating citizens on scientific and technical issues, fostering communication among various agents (politicians, businesspeople, higher education institutions’ managers, and citizens), and advancing socioeconomic progress. By teaching the current and next generations of decision-makers, universities have a role in “shaping the ideals of society”. Numerous publications address the topic of sustainable development, but they do so from the standpoint of how its responsibilities are implemented and how students are prepared and aware of it. This manuscript addresses this vacuum by looking at how students assess university activities and specific pillars of sustainable development, which is an unique approach. The investigation used the CAWI questionnaire. The sample consists of 115 Pakistani respondents, and information was gathered between February and August of 2022. The research built a logistic regression model. Our research’s findings and their analysis revealed that University 4.0s should take initiatives for sustainable development, and that these issues are top priorities for them. The analysis revealed that Society 5.0 is active in University 4.0s’ sustainable development initiatives, and that these initiatives are vital for Society 5.0.

The current study investigates three important characteristics of corporate culture, i.e., information sharing, technological openness, and corporate innovation to address the research gap about how they affect corporate culture to enhance green corporate social responsibility in the automobile sector of China. The data were tested and examined using PLS-SEM. The findings indicate that information sharing, technological openness, and corporate innovation contribute to enhancing green corporate social responsibility. More precisely, the corporate culture encourages information sharing and innovation among employees and connects them to increased corporation operations that may facilitate the acquisition of advanced manufacturing skills. The study demonstrated that corporate culture is critical to effective corporate integration and that information sharing and corporate innovation tend to be powerful determinants of green corporate social responsibility. Additionally, the study emphasized that these characteristics are the source of corporate social responsibility and adopting these characteristics will assist corporations in enhancing the green corporate social responsibility.
