A subsea umbilical includes electrically insulated power conductors, fiber optic elements, electrical signal cables, and fillers within a common outer cover. At least one of the electrical signal cables is enclosed within a dedicated metal tube, and the umbilical is hung off on an offshore platform or the like and the metal tube containing the electrical signal cable is hung off separately from the umbilical.

Power umbilical for deep water

A flow-through cable for transmitting information (20) is provided. The cable includes a jacket (22) having a length and an information conducting core (26) coaxially received within the jacket. A first insulation layer (24) surrounds the information conducting core and has a dieletric strength. The cable further inCludes a first conduit (28) disposed within the jacket. The first conduit is adapted to permit a compound to flow therethrough and is chemically permeable to permit at least a portion of the compound to diffuse through the first conduit.

Flow-through cable

The disclosure relates to a plastic jacket having air spaces formed by spaced walls used to insulate hot and cold piping systems and the fittings for those systems. The jacket is made from multiple segments, which are joined together along their longitudinal joints. The segments are joined to each other by tongue and groove connections. One segment can be cut longitudinally and glued to another segment to make a larger segment to fit various diameters of pipe. In a further embodiment, the plastic jacket is modified to form the duct of a heating, ventilating and air conditioning system. The inner wall of the jacket forms the air duct. In both embodiments, at least some of the segments have hinge portions created by omitting the inner wall at the hinge portions.

An elongated object for use in subsea having a heating pipe and an electrical cable fixed to the surface of the heating pipe. The electrical cable has a protective sleeving for surrounding the electrical cable, composed of a series of elongated synthetic plastics components arranged end-to-end. Each component is an extruded frame work type hollow profile suitable for slowing down the impact over a long deformation path. A hollow space is disposed between the electrical cable and the protective sleeving allowing the cable to move into the protective sleeving.

Integrated high power umbilical

A subsea control cable includes an outer sheath and cables, conduits etc. arranged inside the sheath, and also at least one weight element. The weight element includes at least one strength member extending continuously along the entire length of the control cable, to which strength member there is attached a weight element or elements. The weight of the weight element in relation to the diameter of the control cable varies along the length of the control cable, e.g., from a predetermined minimum weight/diameter ratio, where the weight element consists only of the strength element, to a predetermined maximum weight/diameter ratio, where the cross-section of the control cable is filled to the maximum with the weight member.
