Knee pain is one of the main health issues faced by different people in different parts of the world. Over one fourth of the people above the age of fifty suffer from knee pain. Though there are several physiotherapy treatments for treating knee pain they are not self-applicable and those which are self-applicable by the patient are not highly efficient. This paper deals with an approach towards the use of combining two effective physiotherapy treatments which include vibrations at acupressure points on knee and alternate heating and cooling treatments. These treatments are controlled by a smart phone in which the user can choose their setting depending on intensity and places of pain. The knee pad controlled using the smart phone serves as a self-applicable and effective knee pain treatment especially for the elderly. Heating and cooling combination therapy will be a suitable alternative for treatment of musculoskeletal diseases, decreases muscle spasms, muscular pain/tension and also increases the speed of nerve conduction, thus improving range of motion. This methodology also helps to relieve the sinusitis pain, chronic low back pain and muscular sprain in athletes.

Design and development of a smart knee pain relief pad based on vibration and alternate heating and cooling treatments.


Purpose
Telemedicine is delivered to patient anywhere during emergency treatment care, and medical information is transferred from one site of patient to another site of specialist doctors by using mobile internet communication. Some rural areas have slow internet speed because of weak internet signal propagation from mobile towers. A good design of antenna is needed to improve mobile internet speed for big medial data transmission in telemedicine application. Hence, this paper aims to propose economically low-cost design of antenna.


Design/methodology/approach
Telemedicine recommended to design the satellite frequency modulation dish (SAT FMD) antenna ( where in FM radio antenna, dish antenna are combined ) to improve the internet speed at Telemedicine system and Hospitals for purpose of Telemedicine communication and information for emergency treatment.


Findings
In the proposed system, designed SAT FMD satellite-based antenna improved internet speed is achieved at 90.6% accuracy in this research method. Finding latitude and longitude angles to identify the patient location, nearest hospitals location and finding distance, shortest path routing between patient and hospital. Finding elevation, Azimuth, latitude, longitude, skew for alignment dish to focus satellite and mobile cell tower to improve internet speed at telemedicine area and hospitals and reduced transmission delay and nodal delay of big medical data.


Social implications
The social awareness among people can be shared information of accident patient to communicate Hospital and Ambulance driver by internet mobile app tools and help find nearest hospitals to emergency treatment for accident people.


Originality/value
This paper presents SAT FMD antenna model based on satellite dish antenna consisting of FM radio receiver antenna and dish antenna for telemedicine communication.


Telemedicine system using mobile internet communication

Background The strength of the taper joint plays a vital role in orthopedics which takes the full load of our body. Till date various techniques has been used for the stem manufacturing and an alternative to all those has been presented in the article. Objective This Paper deals with the experimental analysis of the taper connection.The results of the experiment has also been validated during the experimentation process. Methods In case of our experimentation stems of taper joints were implemented in the hips. Results Microscopy based analysis revealed that there was almost no damage in the stems being developed during the process of experimentation. Conclusions As a result it could be summarized that the stem developed during the experimental process were more reliable and free from any type of fretting.

An experimental analysis of the strength of the taper joint.

This paper deals with the investigation of external joint movement with respect to leg kinematics. The overall leg kinematics were investigated by means of a rigid, three-segment, 3D leg model. A 3D kinematics and ground reaction forces was being restructured. The images were then authenticated with the help of a cadaveric investigation and analysis. This was eventually used for prediction of the overall leg kinematics. Thereafter FEM based simulations were undertaken, and muscle forces were investigated based on the data available. With the help of FEM predictions it was found and understood that the overall leg kinematics were having higher loading factor with respect to the lateral.

Three-dimensional experimental investigation pertaining to leg kinematics.

Urinary bladder dysfunction is a major problem, affecting millions worldwide and causing major devastating medical conditions. The urinary bladder dysfunction not only leads to loss of control over the bladder muscles, but also affects the kidney and its functioning. This paper deals with an experimental approach towards the use of metallic strain gauge that produces an appreciable change in resistance with change in volume of urine in the bladder which can be used to study the dysfunction.

Tele-monitoring is considered as a discipline that is meant to rehabilitate independent lifestyle in their place of stay, for persons suffering from different diseases and physical disabilities which forces them to get hospitalised (persons suffering from some chronical diseases, disabilities, which also includes the frail elderly). Adequately powered multicentre, randomised controlled trials are required to further evaluate the potential benefits and cost-effectiveness of tele-monitoring. This paper deals with a technically new ontological framework for tele-monitoring in e-healthcare which is cost effective and more efficient in nature.
