Method and System for Providing Integrated Medication Infusion and Analyte Monitoring System

A power control loop for a radio frequency transmitter includes a power control amplifier, an output and a detector that is coupled to the output for providing an output power signal indicative of output power from the power control loop. A controller generates at least first and second reference signals. A differential amplifier provides a control output that is indicative of a difference between the output power signal and a reference signal. A dual rate filter couples the control output to the power control amplifier so as to vary its gain. The dual rate filter exhibits a fast-reacting filter mode when the controller changes the reference signals to the differential amplifier and a slow-reacting filter mode when the controller applies the first reference signal to the differential amplifier. The fast filter mode enables rapid feedback of the control output to the power control amplifier.

Dual rate power control loop for a transmitter

An amplifier chain that switches between a saturated mode of operation and a linear mode of operation comprises at least two amplifier stages. A switch is associated with the first amplifier stage and dampens the gain of the amplifier chain when the switch is closed. In a first embodiment, this is done by bypassing the first amplifier stage. In second and third embodiments, this is done by providing a feedback loop to the first amplifier stage. Dynamic device scaling and changing the bias may also be used to affect the performance of the amplifier chain.

Switched gain amplifier circuit

The present invention provides for power amplifier control of amplifier circuitry including an input stage and one or more output stages. The input stage is powered separately from the output stage by a relatively fixed power source. The one or more output stages are supplied with power via a voltage regulator having a controllable output voltage. A closed loop control integrated with the amplifier stages forces the voltage output of the voltage regulator to track the profile of an adjustable control signal, such as VRAMP.

A power detector for detecting the magnitude of a radio frequency (RF) signal comprises a detector transistor (V1) which provides an output signal (DC-OUT) in dependence upon the input RF signal. The detector transistor is biased with a biasing circuit which comprises two transistors (V2,V3) in a feedback loop coupled to the base of the detector transistor (V1). The detector can be used as both current and voltage amplifier. One of the transistors (V3) in the feedback loop provides temperature compensation.

A method of providing a positive transmitter power switch-on in a dual-mode mobile phone is disclosed. According to the invention the transmitter is switched on in two or more phases, controlled by the mobile phone microprocessor program. Preferably the power amplifier sections are switched on in sequence, so that the the output power amplifier sections (3 and 4) are first switched on by enabling the transmit enable signal (TXE). Then the input power amplifier sections (1 and 2) are switched on by enabling ramp-up signal (RAMP-UP). Transmission is thereafter enabled by the transmit power control signal (TXC) being switched on, the amplifiers then output the amplified radio frequency input signal (RFIN) to the duplex circuit (10) transmit terminal (TX).
