TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate the likelihood of moving and the direction of moves with respect to the residential location of the parents, using rich administrative data for the Netherlands, and find that the parents' support needs have a much smaller influence on adult children's geographical mobility.

Initial and subsequent location choices of immigrants to the Netherlands

TL;DR: Zorlu et al. as discussed by the authors examined the initial settlement behavior and subsequent mobility of immigrants who arrived in the Netherlands in 1999 using rich administrative individual data, and found that the presence of co-ethnics and members of other ethnic minorities, but also socio-economic neighbourhood characteristics, appear to play an important role in determining location choice.
