The influence of market heterogeneity on the relationship between a destination's image and tourists’ future behaviour

This paper examines from the motivational perspective of the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) how individual values and attitudes in a developing country influence purchase intention of a green product. It also investigates how values may affect attitudes towards environmentally responsible purchase intention. The study analyzed data collected from 257 working respondents who were asked their views concerning their value sets, attitudes and purchase intention of cloth diapers using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique. Findings indicate individual consequences relating to amount of effort and convenience of consumers is negatively related to intention to purchase green product. Environmental consequences are not a significant predictor of environmentally responsible purchase intention. Conservation value was found to be positively related to attitude on environmental consequences but less intensely with individual consequences while both self-transcendence value and self-enhancement value were positively related to individual consequences. Individual consequences and self-enhancement value were negatively related to environmentally responsible purchase intention. This paper has shown that the extended TRA is applicable and also this paper has enhanced understanding of predictors of environmentally responsible purchase intention in a developing country context.

Green product purchase intention: Some insights from a developing country

Although many young people think climate change is an important societal issue, studies indicate that pessimism is quite common. Finding ways to instill hope could therefore be seen as vital. However, is hope positively related to engagement or is it only a sign of illusory optimism? The aim of the study was to explore if hope concerning climate change has a significant relation to pro-environmental behavior as well as an impact on behavior when controlling for already well-known predictors such as values, social influence, knowledge, and gender. Two questionnaire studies were performed, one with a group of Swedish teenagers (n = 723) and one with a group of Swedish young adults (n = 381). ‘Constructive’ hope had a unique positive influence on pro-environmental behavior. Hope and climate change: the importance of hope for environmental engagement among young people

To reduce the amount of waste entering landfills, policymakers and governments have implemented various recycling and waste reduction programs such as source reduction, curbside recycling and drop-off recycling programs. The success of a recycling program largely depends on household participation and sorting activities. A better understanding of recycling behavior will help us aid the design and improve the effectiveness of recycling policies. This paper studies the profile of people who utilize drop-off recycling sites and analyzes the factors influencing their site usage. The results show that the usage of drop-off recycling sites is influenced by demographic factors such as age, education, income and household size. Attitudinal factors are also found to affect site usage. Recyclers tend to use the drop-off sites more when they feel that recycling is a convenient activity and when they are more familiar with the sites.

Antecedents of the adoption of the new mobile payment systems: The moderating effect of age

This work centers on the study of the image of universities, with the aims of explaining the process of image forming by means of its different components, both in its cognitive and affective dimensions and of analyzing its relationship with the students’ satisfaction with the university. The results of the empirical work carried out on a representative sample of 6,775 students studying at a Spanish university demonstrate that the cognitive component of image is an antecedent of the affective component. In turn, both of those components influence the forming of the overall image of the university and the cognitive, affective and overall images statistically and significantly influence the students’ satisfaction with the university.

The configuration of the university image and its relationship with the satisfaction of students

This work centers on the study of consumer recycling roles to examine the sociodemographic and psychographic profile of the distribution of recycling tasks and roles within the household. With this aim in mind, an empirical work was carried out, the results of which suggest that recycling behavior is multidimensional and comprises the undertaking of different roles with different sociodemographic and psychographic causal characteristics. The practical implications of these results can be applied in the implementation of segmentation policies that consider recycling behavior as the product on offer in a discriminate fashion depending on the role to be promoted among the population.
