Elastic properties of injection molded short glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites

TL;DR: In this article, a representative volume element (RVE) scheme is developed to describe the elastic properties of short glass fiber reinforced PA6,6 composites produced by injection molding, and a new concept, namely preferential angle, is introduced to account for the preferential alignment of fibers at different locations of injection molded composites.
Journal ArticleDOI

A nanolattice-plate hybrid structure to achieve a nearly linear relation between stiffness/strength and density

TL;DR: In this paper, the stiffness, failure strength and failure mode of a hybrid structure can be tuned by changing the geometrical parameters of the nanolattice, and it is shown that a nearly linear scaling can be achieved between the stiffness/failure strength and the density if intrinsic material failure occurs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mechanical and failure behaviors of lattice-plate hybrid structures

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate the effects of three geometrical parameters on the stiffness and failure of alumina hybrid structures and further compare their advantages and disadvantages, and find that the failure modes of these hybrid structures can be tuned by altering cell unit type and geometry parameters.
