Purpose
This study aims to investigate the intellectual capital–financial performance relationship using two models, namely the conventional Value-Added Intellectual Coefficient (VAIC) model and the adjusted Value-Added Intellectual Coefficient (A-VAIC) model

Design/methodology/approach
This study is designed as a quantitative research focusing on the relationship between intellectual capital and financial performance of the banking industry in Indonesia As many as 114 data are derived from the publicly listed banks on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period of 2012–2017 The multiple regression analysis is employed to test the hypotheses studied

Findings
In general, the result confirms that intellectual capital affects financial performance Although not all hypotheses of the study are supported by either the VAIC model or the A-VAIC model, the results provide a deeper and new insight on how each component of intellectual capital efficiency (human capital, structural capital, capital employed, innovation capital) relates to financial performance (return on asset, return on equity, asset turnover, price to book ratio) The results also justify that further improvements in measuring intellectual capital are still needed in the future

Research limitations/implications
This study limits its generalization since the sample is only in the Indonesian banking industry Notwithstanding the limitation, the results imply that the Indonesian banking managers need to be aware of intellectual capital management because of its strategic role in enhancing financial performance

Practical implications
This study contributes to the intellectual capital literature by providing empirical evidence on the use of both models, namely the conventional VAIC and the A-VAIC in the Indonesian banking industry research setting which is never been studied before

Social implications
This study has the social implication to the enhancement of the quality life of the society The higher the quality of intellectual capital in the banking firms, the better the banks serve the needs of the community

Originality/value
This study contributes to the IC literature by providing empirical research on the use of the VAIC model and the A-VAIC model in the Indonesian banking industry

Measures that matter: an empirical investigation of intellectual capital and financial performance of banking firms in Indonesia

The COVID-19 has grandly shaken all organizations, creating a complex and challenging environment for managers and human resource management (HRM) practitioners, who need to find ingenious solutions to ensure the continuity of their companies and to help their employees to cope with this extraordinary crisis. Studies addressing the impact of this crisis on HRM are sparse. This paper is a general literature review, which aims at broadening the scope of management research, by exploring the impact of the COVID-19 on HRM. It identifies the main challenges and opportunities that have arisen from this new pandemic and it offers insights for managers and HRM practitioners into possible future organizational directions that might arise from these opportunities. © 2021 Cambridge University Press. Human resource management and the COVID-19 crisis: Implications, challenges, opportunities, and future organizational directions

The Covid-19 pandemic since the beginning of 2020 has changed all aspects of people's lives. The community must start a new life adaptation where the implementation of health protocols is not only mandatory but also a lifestyle trend. One of the new habits that many people are starting to implement is online shopping. This is an opportunity for MSMEs in Indonesia to be able to take this opportunity so that they can develop and sustain their business in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, it is necessary for MSME players to be introduced to Digital Marketing. The goal of this study is to introduce the deployment of small and medium-sized enterprises in the MSME sector during the COVID-19 pandemic. This review takes a qualitative approach, using a literature review, to examine and solve research content issues. The results of the research show that digital marketing is very helpful for MSME players in Indonesia because with the various benefits that digital marketing has, it can increase the sales turnover of MSME players. However, digital marketing has not been widely applied to the MSME sector in Indonesia due to several factors, including not yet technological literacy, inadequate supporting facilities to Indonesia's geographic conditions which become obstacles. Therefore, researchers recommend a few simple things how to start a business with digital marketing, such as starting to determine marketing goals, marketing targets, determining the digital platform to use; determine the budget, and create content that can attract consumer attention. In this study, the authors also describe the added value obtained by customers who use digital marketing.

Utilization of Digital Marketing for MSME Players as Value Creation for Customers during the COVID-19 Pandemic

The success of a company in high level competition requires public trust. Similarly, the banking services provider of Rural Banking Sector in Java, Indonesia. To keep customer satisfaction with high trust of financial performance that customer loyalty can be achieved is necessary for public which is measured through financial performance.The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Intellectual Capital in the banking sector on the island of Java, Indonesia to financial performance. Data processing techniques using Multiple Regression.The research method using purposive sampling and exploratory with a sample number 615. The data were analyzed using Eviews 7 and Microsoft Exel 2007. The results showed that the Value Added Capital Employee (VACA) variables significantly influence toward Financial Performance and Value Added Human Capital (VAHU) variables and variable Structural Capital Value Added (STVA) have significant effect also on toward Financial Performance. The overall test results produced an adjusted R squares indicate that the Intellectual Capital variables significantly influence toward Financial Performance.

The Empirical Study on Intellectual Capital Approach toward Financial Performance on Rural Banking Sectors in Indonesia

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Kompetensi Sumber Daya Manusia dan Kemampuan Pemanfaatan Teknologi terhadap Kinerja Aparatur Desa Pada Kantor Kepala Desa di Kabupaten Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta. Metode yang digunakan adalah explanatory research dengan teknik analisis menggunakan analisis statistik dengan pengujian regresi, korelasi, determinasi dan uji hipotesis. Hasil penelitian ini Kompetensi Sumber Daya Manusia berpengaruh signifikan terhadap Kinerja Aparatur Desa sebesar 41,5%, uji hipotesis diperoleh t hitung > t tabel atau (10,045 > 1,977). Kemampuan Pemanfaatan Teknologi berpengaruh signifikan terhadap Kinerja Aparatur Desa sebesar 42,7%, uji  hipotesis diperoleh t hitung > t tabel atau (10,285 > 1,977). Kompetensi Sumber Daya Manusia dan Kemampuan Pemanfaatan Teknologi secara simultan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap Kinerja Aparatur Desa dengan persamaan regresi Y = 6,025 + 0,391X1 + 0,461X2. Kontribusi pengaruh sebesar 57,3%, uji hipotesis diperoleh F hitung > F tabel atau (94,626 > 2,670).

Prior to the 1998 economic downfall, and in ten years after in 2008, BMT (Baitul Maal wa Tamwil) proofed the endurance to remain stable. From those external factors, strived the company very hard hard to sustain its business, as well as to formulate a better strategy to its competitive advantage. The research begins with the internal and external analysis, using a SWOT Analysis. The results shows its business strength and its market penetration, lies in its company’s human development. Through the IE Matrix, founds BMT Beringharjo competitive position in Quadrant or cell IV Matrix IE, with growth strategy through horizontal integration concentration. Based on its position of: (1) competition; (2) strength; (3) weakness; (4) opportunity; (5) threats. Enriched with strategy of: (1) market penetration; (2) market development; as well as (3) horizontal integration strategy to the creative innovation strategy is inevitable to remain exist and gain more success.
