This paper presents the implementation of biometric access control using a fingerprint for the safety and security system of Electric Vehicles (EV). The EVs play a vital role in the minimization of the emission of carbon footprint into the atmosphere. Right now, researchers are giving more attention to the design and development of advanced EVs with more safety and security systems. As the population is gradually increasing, there is a positive correlation between the number of road traffic accidents deaths. These road accidents are unpredictable. The main reasons for road traffic accidents are negligence in driving, drunk and drive also a minor cause is being on the stand and driving. At the same time, the vehicle owner has afraid more because day-by-day vehicle robbery is keep on increasing, which intends to develop anti-theft devices for EVs. In the next few years, with tremendous growth in the electric vehicle market, it is important to design EVs with high security and safety systems. In this paper, an advanced safety and security system is proposed for EVs which ensures the stand removing and vehicle owner through fingerprint recognition. The proposed safety and security systems are implemented and tested in E-Bike the efficacy of the system was found satisfactory.

Implementation of Biometric Access Control Using Fingerprint for Safety and Security System of Electric Vehicle

This paper presents, the enhancement of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) performance using fingerprint and face recognition. In democratic countries, the EVM plays a vital role in the election process. Even though it has more benefits; still the malpractices are continued due to manual verification of electoral documents for all elections in democratic countries. In this proposed method EVM with biometric fingerprint and face recognition devices are used to overcome this problem. To conquer the issues existing in the election process for voter identification the biometric fingerprint and web cameras are introduced in the EVMs. The people at the polling booth need to put the finger in the fingerprint equipment and face to be captured by the web camera provided to recognize them. The controller fetches the data from the input devices and compares it with the database to enable the polling device to cast their votes. In practice, due to some technical issue either in the input devices or from the voter side the election process will be continued by document verification. In the polling booths, the presiding officers are having the right to enable the polling device by pressing the enable button after document verification. The performance of the proposed method was validated with EVM successfully.

As per the bylaw of the Constitution of India, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has been driven to conduct elections honestly and autonomously at regular intervals. For this, from the last decade onwards they are implementing advanced technologies in the election process to ensure efficacy, less time consumption, and cost. Right now, the ECI effectively utilizing the Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) with an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) to ensure each individual votes. However, still, the ECI struggling to control malpractice that exists in the election process while verifying voters with an electoral list. To overcome these issues, a face recognition device is embedded with the EVM. The ECI trying to achieve a more than ninety-five percent polling rate in a democratic country. At present, the average polling rate in all types of elections has not reached a mere seventy percent. The ECI is unable to achieve its target due to people migrating from state to state and abroad for employment. The main objective of interfacing online and offline voting systems are to provide opportunities for migrated people to complete vote during elections in their respective constituencies. In this regard, an online website is used for voting which can update the information of voters and their voting status which are acquired through both online and offline voting. The offline voting system implements the usage of the raspberry pi for face recognition. Test results on developed online and offline voting systems with an E-Voting website are found to be satisfactory.

Currently energy theft has become a major problem in the developing countries like India, Pakistan, Srilanka, etc. The economic status of the country will be disturbed in a great manner if the electricity is illegally used. It is very difficult to verify theft occurred and solve it at individual level in the real time applications. Various kinds of energy theft comprised of meter tampering, bypassing the energy meter, direct hooking from line, etc. This paper proposes the detection of energy theft using Arduino and GSM module. LCD is provided to display the data of power usage and also the power being theft i.e., the difference between the consumers load and the theft load which is sent to the GSM module. Further this information is sent to the electricity board and also to the consumer as a message which embodies the distribution transformer details. The power is fed from the transformer to the Arduino which is being stepped down. The major advantage of this paper is when compared to the existing system, it detects the power theft and sends the information of the corresponding feeder using GSM module to electricity board directly without manually filing a complaint and also in case of power failure, the message is sent without any interruption as Arduino is facilitated with power backup.
