Journal ArticleDOI
Randomized Trial of Short-Course Radiotherapy Versus Long-Course Chemoradiation Comparing Rates of Local Recurrence in Patients With T3 Rectal Cancer: Trans-Tasman Radiation Oncology Group Trial 01.04
Samuel Y Ngan,Bryan Burmeister,Richard Fisher,Michael J. Solomon,David Goldstein,David Joseph,Stephen P. Ackland,David Schache,B. McClure,Sue-Anne McLachlan,Joseph McKendrick,Trevor Leong,Cris Hartopeanu,John Zalcberg,John Mackay +14 more
TL;DR: Three-year LR rates between SC and LC were not statistically significantly different; the CI for the difference is consistent with either no clinically important difference or differences in favor of LC, which may be more effective in reducing LR for distal tumors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Whole brain irradiation following surgery or radiosurgery for solitary brain metastases: mature results of a prematurely closed randomized Trans-Tasman Radiation Oncology Group trial (TROG 98.05).
Daniel E. Roos,Andrew Wirth,Bryan Burmeister,Nigel Spry,Katharine J. Drummond,Jennifer Beresford,B. McClure +6 more
TL;DR: The results are not inconsistent with two larger randomized trials and support the use of upfront WBI to decrease brain recurrence in this setting.
Journal ArticleDOI
A randomized trial comparing local recurrence (LR) rates between short-course (SC) and long-course (LC) preoperative radiotherapy (RT) for clinical T3 rectal cancer: An intergroup trial (TROG, AGITG, CSSANZ, RACS).
Samuel Y Ngan,Richard I. Fisher,David Goldstein,Michael J. Solomon,Bryan Burmeister,Stephen P. Ackland,David Joseph,B. McClure,Sue-Anne McLachlan,John Mackay,Trog,Agitg,Cssanz,Racs +13 more
TL;DR: The primary aim of the trial was to compare LR rates (cumulative incidences) at 3 years between SC and LC, which has been accepted as standard of care for locally advanced rectal cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
A phase I trial of docetaxel and gemcitabine in patients with advanced cancer
Danny Rischin,Michael Boyer,Joel Smith,Michael Millward,Michael Michael,James F. Bishop,John Zalcberg,J. D. Davison,E. Emmett,B. McClure +9 more
TL;DR: This non-platinum containing regimen warrants further investigation as a potential alternative to platinum containing regimens in non-small-cell lung cancer and other malignancies and is suitable for further investigation in phase II trials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Promising results of a cooperative group phase II trial of preoperative chemoradiation for locally advanced rectal cancer (TROG 9801).
Samuel Y Ngan,Richard Fisher,Bryan Burmeister,John Mackay,David Goldstein,Andrew Kneebone,David Schache,David Joseph,Joseph McKendrick,Trevor Leong,B. McClure,Danny Rischin +11 more
TL;DR: There is a need for longer follow-up than has commonly been used for the proper evaluation of failures after an effective regimen of preoperative chemoradiation, as this regimen provides excellent local control and favorable overall survival.
