Journal ArticleDOI

Studies in claisen rearrangement—II

TL;DR: In this article, two conceivable mechanistic pathways in the conversion of 1,4-diaryloxy-2butynes to benzofurobenzopyrans, one is eliminated and the other validated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Studies on quinolizones—I : Nitration of 4H-quinolizin-4-one

TL;DR: In this paper, the aromaticity of 4H-quinolizin-4-one has been established by a nitration comparable to that of 2-pyridones and the position of substituents has been verified by independent synthesis using ethyl-β-ethoxy-α-nitroacrylate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Studies in claisen rearrangement - I, 2-butyn-1,4-diyl bis-(aryl ethers)

TL;DR: In this paper, the rearrangement of 1,4-bis-aryloxybut-2-ynes to 4b,9b-dihydro-4b, 9b-dimethylbenzofuro (3,2-b) benzofuran is described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Studies on quinolizones—II: Bromination and acetylation of 4H-quinolizin-4-ONE

TL;DR: In this article, brominative decarboxylation of the corresponding quinolizone carboxylic acids, comparable to the behaviour of salicylic acid or p -hydroxybenzoic acid, was demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Studies on quinolizones—III

TL;DR: In this article, reaction of 6-Methyl-2-pyridylacetone, propionone and 2-phenacylpyridine with ethyl ethoxymethylene malonate yield the expected 4-quinolizone derivatives whereas reaction with β-ethoxy-α-nitroacrylic ester yields indolizine derivatives with the loss of the nitro group.
