This paper presents the effect of thermal radiation on the boundary layer over a flat plate. The convective boundary condition is applied at the surface of the flat plate. The solution to the coupled non-linear transport equations is obtained using the Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg fourth-fifth order (RKF45) method. The impact of thermal radiation on mercury, air, sulphur oxide and water whose Prandtl numbers (
 $$\Pr$$
 ) are 0.044, 0.72, 2, and 7 respectively are depicted using line graphs and tables. The impact of Prandtl number (
 $$\Pr$$
 ), local convective heat transfer (a) and temperature difference (
 $$C_{T}$$
 ) on temperature distribution are also presented. The results indicated that the boundary layer thickness decreases with $$\Pr$$
 augment but increases with increasing values $$R$$
 . Furthermore, R augment is inversely proportional to the temperature gradient near the plate while an opposite trend is observed away from the plate. The results also indicated that $$R$$
 augment reduces heat transfer but an opposite trend is observed with $$\Pr$$
 augment. $$\Pr$$
 augment has a decreasing effect on boundary layer thickness and a augment has an increasing effect on temperature.

This paper is concerned with the study of a transient hydromagnetic Couette flow and heat transfer of a reactive viscous incompressible electrically conducting fluid between two infinitely long horizontal parallel plates when one of the plate is set into uniform accelerated motion in the presence of a uniform transverse magnetic field under Arrhenius reaction rate. The transient momentum equations are solved analytically using the Laplace transform technique and the velocity field and shear stresses are obtained in a unified closed form. The energy equation is tackled numerically using MATLAB. The effects of the pertinent parameters on the fluid velocity, temperature, the shear stress and the rate of heat transfer at the plates are presented in graphical form and discussed in detail. Our results reveal that the combined effects of magnetic field, rotation, exothermic reaction and variable thermal conductivity have significant impact on the hydromagnetic flow and heat transfer.

Our results divulge that the effects of magnetic field, rotation, exothermic reaction and variable thermal conductivity have significant impact on the hydromagnetic flow and heat transfer.

In this paper, the steady/transient magnetohydrodynamics heat transfer within a radiative porous channel due to convective boundary conditions is considered. The solution of the steady‐state and that of the transient version were conveyed by the perturbation and finite difference methods, respectively. The heat transfer mechanism of the present work ascertain the influence of Biot number ( Bi 1 ${B}_{i1}$ ), magnetizing parameter ( M ) $(M)$ , radiation parameter ( R ) $(R)$ , temperature difference, suction/injection ( S ) $(S)$ , Grashof number ( Gr ) $({Gr})$ , and time ( t ) $(t)$ on velocity ( u ) $(u)$ , temperature ( θ ) $(\theta )$ , skin friction ( τ ) $(\tau )$ , and Nusselt number ( Nu ) $({Nu})$ . The results were established and discussed with the help of a line graph. It was found that the velocity, temperature, and skin friction decay with increasing suction/injection and magnetizing parameters while the Nusselt number upsurges with suction/injection at y = 0 and falls at y = 1. The steady‐state solution was in perfect agreement with the transient version for a significant value of time t. It is interesting to report that the Biot number has a cogent influence consequently, as its values upsurge the result of the present work slant the extended literature.
