Journal ArticleDOI
Coverage and efficacy of intermittent preventive treatment with sulphadoxine pyrimethamine against malaria in pregnancy in Côte d'Ivoire five years after its implementation.
Offianan Andre Toure,Penali L Kone,M'Lanhoro A A Coulibaly,Berenger Aristide Ako,Eric A. Gbessi,Baba Coulibaly,Landry T N' Guessan,David Koffi,Sylvain Beourou,Adama Soumahoro,Issiaka Bassinka,Messoun Nogbou,Tidjane Swa,Bernadin Gba,Beugre Esmel,Ernestine M Bokossa +15 more
TL;DR: This study found relative low coverage of IPTp in the study areas which supported findings that high ANC attendance does not guarantee high IPTP coverage and urgent efforts are required to improve service delivery of this important intervention.
Journal ArticleDOI
Open-label, randomized, non-inferiority clinical trial of artesunate-amodiaquine versus artemether-lumefantrine fixed-dose combinations in children and adults with uncomplicated falciparum malaria in Côte d'Ivoire
Offianan Andre Toure,Serge B. Assi,Tiacoh L N'Guessan,Gbessi E Adji,Aristide Berenger Ako,Marie J Brou,Marie F Ehouman,Laeticia A Gnamien,M'Lanhoro A A Coulibaly,Baba Coulibaly,Sylvain Beourou,Issiaka Bassinka,Adama Soumahoro,Florence K Kadjo,Mea A Tano +14 more
TL;DR: This study has shown the high efficacy of AS-AQ in patients of all ages with acute uncomplicated falciparum malaria and AS- aQ was non-inferior to AL, and continuous efficacy monitoring is recommended.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cross sectional study on prevalence of sickle cell alleles S and C among patients with mild malaria in Ivory Coast.
Stephane Koui Tossea,Eric Gbessi Adji,Baba Coulibaly,Berenger Ako Ako,David N’golo Coulibaly,Philippe Joly,Serge-Brice Assi,André Offianan Touré,Ronan Jambou +8 more
TL;DR: A high proportion of patients with mild malaria carried genetic hemoglobin disorder, and this population of high risk must be better investigated to control treatment efficacy and to manage complications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Malaria parasite clearance from patients following artemisinin-based combination therapy in Côte d'Ivoire.
Offianan Andre Toure,Tiacoh N'Guessan Landry,Serge B. Assi,Antoinette Amany Kone,Eric A. Gbessi,Berenger Aristide Ako,Baba Coulibaly,Bouakary Kone,Oumar Ouattara,Sylvain Beourou,Alphonsine A. Koffi,Franck Remoue,Christophe Rogier +12 more
TL;DR: Investigating parasite clearance in patients treated with artesunate + amodiaquine (AS + AQ) and artemether + lumefantrine (AL): the two artemisinin-based combination therapies recommended in the first-line treatment of uncomplicated malaria in Côte d’Ivoire found ACTs are still efficacious, but continued efficacy monitoring of ACTs is needed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative efficacy of uncontrolled and controlled intermittent preventive treatment during pregnancy (IPTp) with combined use of LLTNs in high resistance area to sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine in Côte d'Ivoire.
A. Toure Offianan,Louis K. Penali,M. Coulibaly,NL Tiacoh,Aab Ako,EG Adji,Baba Coulibaly,D Koffi,Demba Sarr,R Jambou,M. Kone +10 more
TL;DR: The study showed that the two IPTp-SP approaches were equivalent, suggesting that unsupervised IPTP-SP free of charge should be used in areas where implementation of the directly observed treatment scheme suffers from many constraints.
