Experiments with a stratospheric general circulation model

TL;DR: An 18-vertical level primitive equation general circulation model was developed from previous models of the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory in order to study the lower stratosphere in detail as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experiments with a stratospheric general circulation model: ii. large-scale diffusion of tracers in the stratosphere

TL;DR: The 18-level primitive equation, general circulation model described in Part I was used to study the diffusion of two idealized tracers in the stratosphere, and the large-scale eddies were found to be important in diffusion of the tracers, and for quasisteady state conditions they formed a highly interrelated system in which their actions were mutually canceling as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experiments with a stratospheric general circulation model iii. large-scale diffusion of ozone including photochemistry

TL;DR: In this paper, the 18-vertical-level general circulation model was used to investigate the large-scale diffusion of a further two tracers in the stratosphere, one based on photochemistry in an oxygen-only atmosphere, the other on photochemically in a oxygen-hydrogen atmosphere.
