Linalool and linalool nerolidol synthases in roses, several genes for little scent.
Jean-Louis Magnard,Aurélie Rius Bony,Fabienne Bettini,Ausilia Campanaro,Bernard Blerot,Sylvie Baudino,Frédéric Jullien +6 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that in roses the monoterpene biosynthesis effort is focused on the production of acyclic monoterpenes derived from geraniol through the recently characterized Nudix biosynthesis pathway, at the expense of conventional monotercine biosynthesis via terpene synthases such as linalools or linalool nerolidol synthases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Botany, agronomy and biotechnology of Pelargonium used for essential oil production
TL;DR: Methods for genetic transformation of Pelargonium are available and, due to the growing knowledge of biosynthetic pathways and the cloning of terpene synthase genes in angiosperms, new strategies to improve EO yield or to modify EO composition could be imagined.
Journal ArticleDOI
Functional Analysis of Four Terpene Synthases in Rose-Scented Pelargonium Cultivars (Pelargonium × hybridum) and Evolution of Scent in the Pelargonium Genus
Bernard Blerot,Laure Martinelli,Cécile Prunier,Denis Saint-Marcoux,Sylvain Legrand,Aurélie Bony,Loïc Sarrabère,Florence Gros,Nicolas Boyer,Jean-Claude Caissard,Sylvie Baudino,Frédéric Jullien +11 more
TL;DR: It is shown that, by contrast to other TPSs, geraniol synthases from the TPS-g subfamily conserved their molecular function throughout evolution, and also the characterisation of a novel sesquiterpene synthase catalysing the biosynthesis of 10-epi-γ-eudesmol.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rose floral scent
Sylvie Baudino,Pulu Sun,Jean-Claude Caissard,B. Nairaud,Sandrine Moja,Jean-Louis Magnard,Aurélie Rius Bony,Frédéric Jullien,Robert C. Schuurink,Philippe Vergne,Annick Dubois,Olivier Raymond,Mohammed Bendahmane,L. Hibrand-Saint Oyant,Julien Jeauffre,J. Clotault,Tatiana Thouroude,Fabrice Foucher,Bernard Blerot +18 more
TL;DR: A positive correlation was found between the expression levels of RhNUDX1 gene and the production of the monoterpene geraniol, indicating its essential role in scent production in roses.
Journal ArticleDOI
From biosynthesis in plants to post-biosynthetic enzymatic conversion. Generation of odor-impact rose oxides from citronellol-rich essential oils
TL;DR: In this paper , a laccase-catalyzed oxidation of (±)-, (R)-, and (S)-citronellol into rose oxide diastereomers in the presence of mediators was studied and optimized.
