Peace Studies performs an invaluable function, identifying and analysing causes of unpeacefulness and pointing out paths to peace on earth. For many reasons, including historical ones and the philosophical backgrounds of peace researchers and educators, attention paid to the concept of peace as presented in the peace literature has been inadequate. Peace itself is regarded primarily as a goal and is sought in piecemeal fashion. In these pages the basis of a holistic and integrated paradigm of peace is outlined.
