Substrate for light emitting diode and light emitting diode

In the present work, six electrical porcelain compositions with different amount of alumina and silica have been prepared and fired in an industrial furnace at 1300 °C. Density, porosity, bending strength and electrical strength were measured in the samples. In order to find a relationship between properties and sample microstructures, samples were analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and x-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. The results showed that, with chemical composition of 53·5 wt.% SiO2 and 37·5 wt.% alumina, highest electrical strength of 21·97 kV/mm was achieved in fabricated electrical porcelains. Increasing amount of alumina up to 30 wt.% decreases quartz and cristobalite phases, but increases corundum phase 3 to 5 times. SEM observation revealed that dense particles and uniform distribution of long and thin needle shaped mullite are predominant in sample microstructures with highest electrical strength.

Effect of chemical composition and alumina content on structure and properties of ceramic insulators

An improved high voltage insulator includes a central core and an insulating body fitted tightly around the central core. A flexible coating layer is interposed between a part of the central core and the insulating body. The flexible coating layer fills in shrinkage cavities and compensates for a retraction effect caused by injected material used in forming the insulating body. The insulating body is overmolded to the central core previously coated with the flexible coating layer with an injected insulating resin such as a thermoplastic or thermosetting resin. The insulator could be used as a capactive divider or bushing insulator.

The invention relates to a vacuum bulb for an electrical protection apparatus, such as a switch or a circuit breaker. The inventive bulb comprises at least three screens (8, 9, 10) including a mid-potential screen (9) which is mounted between the two contacts (1, 2) and a partial screen (8, 10) which is disposed between the mid-potential screen (9) and one of the contacts (1, 2), the distance between the mid-potential screen (9) and the contacts (1, 2) being selected such that the electric field at the edge of the contact (1, 2) moves from the contact (1, 2) towards the surrounding partial screen (8, 10) (or vice versa from the partial screen towards the contact, as a function of the polarity of the voltage).

A process of manufacturing an insulator having a central core and an insulating body fitted tightly around the central core includes interposing a flexible coating layer between a part of the central core and the insulating body. Manufacturing process of an insulator

The cylindrical core (21) comprises a central ceramic section (23) and conducting metal terminal stubs (24, 25) aligned on a common axis and interconnected by conical brass ferrules. This is placed in a pre-heated mould into which is poured a polyurethane compound, giving a coating between 0.75 and 1.50 mm thick. The assembly, heated to 70 deg.C is placed in a second mould where the outer body (22) is over moulded by injection at a pressure of 50-100 bars over 5 seconds; typically, this includes sheds (27) to extend the tracking distance. The material injected is a thermoplastic or thermosetting resin. The over moulding subjects the coating (28) to pressure and it eliminates voids and irregularities due to shrinkage.
