Digital transformation creates challenges in all industries and business sectors. The development of digital transformation has also clearly triggered the emergence of fintech (financial technology) initiatives, which are recognized as some of the most important innovations in the financial industry. These initiatives are developing rapidly, driven in part by the sharing economy, regulations, and information technology. However, research in the field of fintech remains in its infancy. Fintech offers several services, such as funding, payment (including electronic wallets), e-aggregators, e-trading, and e-insurance, and cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. This provides an opportunity to more closely examine fintech’s research challenges and trends. This study aims to (1) determine the state of the art of financial technology research; (2) identify gaps in the financial technology research field; and (3) identify challenges and trends for future research potential. The novel proposal in this study includes theoretical contributions regarding financial technology. Using the systematic literature review approach of Kitchenham, in addition to thematic analysis, meta-analysis and observation to validate the quality of literature and analysis, the results of this study provide a theoretical basis fintech research from an information systems perspective, including the formulation of fintech technology concepts and their development.

Challenges and trends of financial technology (Fintech): A systematic literature review

Smart village is a potential solution for rural problems. Most research papers on smart village discuss project implementations instead of relevant theories and concepts. Therefore, this study aims to fill the gap by proposing a conceptual model on smart village. Preferred Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) based on 56 articles was conducted to construct the model. It results 4 main components of smart village conceptual model. These are objectives, strategies, dimensions, and foundations. Each component also has its own sub-components. Dimension components consist of 7 focus areas such as economy, ICT, people, governance, environment, living, and also energy. These findings enrich theoretical studies on smart village.

Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Proposed Smart Village Conceptual Model: Objectives, Strategies, Dimensions, and Foundations

Scrum is considered as one of the solutions to overcome problems encountered in global software development (GSD). The skills of a Scrum team largely determine the successful implementation of Scrum in a GSD project. The present study aims to identify and rank the essential skills for Scrum GSD teams. First, we identified five hard skills and five soft skills by conducting a literature study and depth interviews with a software engineering expert. Second, these skills were arranged into a questionnaire, which was then distributed to thirty undergraduate students taking software engineering subjects. The students were considered as Scrum beginners in development teams. The questionnaire data were subsequently analyzed by ranking the importance of the skills. Next, the rankings were validated in a focus group discussion (FGD) with four practitioners, two academics, one policymaker, and one representative of a relevant professional association. All members of the FGD had at least five years of experience in Scrum GSD. In the following stage, frequency analysis was employed to achieve a consensus among the experts. After that, a round table discussion was conducted to confirm the consensus. The results show that programming is the most important hard skill, while interpersonal and communication are the most important soft skills. Database expertise and leadership were identified as the least important hard and soft skills, respectively. Furthermore, the rank of these skills by importance is aligned with the nature of Scrum and GSD. Our findings can be used as a foundation to construct competencies in Scrum GSD teams.
