A novel triband square-slot antenna with symmetrical L-strips is presented for WLAN and WiMAX applications. The proposed antenna is composed of a square slot, a pair of L-strips, and a monopole radiator. By employing these structures, the antenna can yield three different resonances to cover the desired bands while maintaining small size and simple structure. Based on this concept, a prototype of a triband antenna is designed, fabricated, and tested. The experimental results show the antenna has the impedance bandwidths of 480 MHz (2.34-2.82 GHz), 900 MHz (3.16-4.06 GHz), and 680 MHz (4.69-5.37 GHz), which can cover both WLAN in the 2.4/5.2-GHz bands and WiMAX in the 2.5/3.5-GHz bands.

Compact Triband Square-Slot Antenna With Symmetrical L-Strips for WLAN/WiMAX Applications

- A single feed compact square microstrip antenna is proposed in this paper. Two L slits are introduced on the right edge of the patch to study the effect of the slit on radiation behavior with respect to a conventional microstrip patch. An extensive analysis of the return loss, radiation pattern and efficiency of the proposed antenna is shown in this paper. For the optimize value of the slit parameters antenna resonant frequencies are obtained at 2.16, 2.68,3.22&4.37 GHz with corresponding bandwidth 11.02 MHz, 13.07 MHz, 35.86 MHz , 48.56 MHz and return loss of about -23.4,-15.2,-30.6&-20.3 dB respectively. For the lowest esonant frequency (2.16 GHz) the size of the antenna has been reduced by 71.14 % when compared to aconventional rectangular microstrip patch. Thecharacteristics of the designed structure are nvestigated by using MoM based electromagnetic solver, IE3D. The simple configuration, low profile nature, reduced size and quad band characteristics of the proposed antenna makes it suitable to operate in the frequency ranges of 2.165-2.176, 2.673-2.686, 3.208-3.244 and 4.343-4.392 GHz.

A Compact Microstrip Patch Antenna for Wireless Communication

A compact wide tri-band microstrip-fed slot antenna for wireless local area network (WLAN) and worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) application is presented. Three operating bands are achieved by inserting a pair of T-shaped strips into a wide rectangular slot. The bandwidth enhancement is obtained by introducing a staircase pattern into the wide rectangular slot. A fabricated prototype for the proposed tri-band antenna has compact dimensions of 36×30×mm 2 , and provides a wide impedance bandwidth. The measured impedance bandwidth for 10dB return loss at 2.5, 3.5, and 5.6 GHz operating band can be up to 540, 940, and 950 MHz, respectively. Moreover, the antenna shows monopole-like radiation patterns and stable antenna gains across the three operating bands.

Compact wide tri-band slot antenna for WLAN/WiMAX applications

In this article, a compact microstrip-fed printed dual band antenna for Bluetooth (2.4{2.484GHz) and UWB (3.1{ 10.6GHz) applications with WLAN (5.15{5.825GHz) band-notched characteristics is proposed. It is demonstrated that dual band characteristics with desired bandwidth can be obtained by using a fork shaped radiating patch, whereas, band-notched characteristics can be obtained by etching two L-shaped slots and two symmetrical step slots on the rectangular ground plane. The proposed antenna is simulated, fabricated and tested. The structure is fabricated on a low cost FR4 substrate having dimensions of 50mm (Lsub) £ 24mm (Wsub) £ 1:6 (H)mm and fed by a 50› microstrip line. The proposed antenna has S11 • i10dB over 2.18{2.59GHz, Bluetooth band, 3.098{5.15GHz and 5.948{11.434GHz, UWB band with WLAN band notch. The structure exhibits nearly omnidirectional radiation patterns, stable gain, and small group delay variation over the desired bands.

Printed Fork Shaped Dual Band Monopole Antenna for Bluetooth and UWB Applications with 5.5 GHz WLAN Band Notched Characteristics

In this paper, a compact asymmetric coplanar strip (ACS)-fed printed monopole dual- band antenna for 24 GHz bluetooth, 52/58 GHz wireless local area network (WLAN) and 35/55 GHz worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) applications is presented and investigated experimentally The proposed antenna is composed of a ACS-fed monopole, an arc-shaped strip and an omega-shaped strip, which occupies a compact size of 18 × 22 mm 2 including the ground plane By properly selecting the positions and lengths of these strips, dual frequency operation with wide impedance bandwidth characterstics can be achieved The proposed antenna has been validated experimentally and found to have nearly onmidirectional radiation patterns in the H-plane, nearly bi-directional behaviour in the E-plane and acceptable peak gain across operating bands

Design of a Compact ACS-Fed Dual Band Antenna for Bluetooth/WLAN and WiMAX Applications

In this paper, a wide-slot triple band antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) for WLAN/WiMAX applications is proposed. The antenna mainly comprises a ground with a wide square slot in the center, a rectangular feeding strip and two pairs of planar inverted L strips (PIL) connecting with the slotted ground. By introducing the two pairs of PIL's, three resonant frequencies, 2.4/5.5GHz for WLAN, and 3.5GHz for WiMAX, are excited. Prototypes of the antenna are fabricated and tested. The simulated and measured results show that the proposed antenna has three good impedance bandwidths (S11 better than i10dB) of 300MHz (about 12.6% centered at 2.39GHz), 280MHz (about 8% centered at 3.49GHz) and 790MHz (about 14.5% centered at 5.43GHz), which make it easily cover the required bandwidths for WLAN band (2.4{ 2.48GHz, 5.15{5.35GHz, and 5.725{5.825GHz) and WiMAX (3.4- 3.6GHz) applications. Moreover, the obtained radiation patterns demonstrate that the proposed antenna has flgure-eight patterns in E-plane, and is omni-directional in H-plane. The gains of the antenna at operation bands are stable.
