Linkage between turbulent kinetic energy, waves and suspended sediment concentrations in the nearshore zone

TL;DR: In this paper, a field measurement lasting for nearly three tidal cycles was conducted to holistically discern couplings between turbulent kinetic energy (TKE), waves and suspended sediment concentrations (SSCs), with further evaluation of the relative significance of TKE and waves on SSCs under various wave conditions over a meso-macro tidal beach, Yintan, to the north of Beibu Gulf, China.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dramatic typhoon-induced variability in the grain size characteristics of sediments at a meso-macrotidal beach

TL;DR: In this paper, dramatic changes in the grain size of sediments at Yintan Beach, South China in response to Typhoon Rammasun (tropical storm no. 1409) were analyzed on the basis of the collected sediments, beach elevation, and hydrological data from June 1 to July 31.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impacts of River Engineering on Multi-Decadal Water Discharge of the Mega-Changjiang River

TL;DR: Based on the collected multi-decadal discharge data at Yichang, Hankou, and Datong stations, this article determined that in October, Three Gorges Dam contributed 34.4%, 24.5%, and 18.7% to the discharge decrease in the upper, middle, and lower reach, respectively, while Gezhouba Dam contributed 14.5, 10.7, and 10%.

Estuary and coastal hydrogeomorphic evolution image monitoring and analyzing system and method

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provided an estuary and coastal hydrogeomorphic evolution image monitoring and analyzing system and method. The method comprises the following steps of arranging a coast video monitoring unit at a highland of the estuary coast; transmitting acquired image data to a data processing unit; and enabling a data processor to carry out image correction and feature point dense matching on the image data.
