To improve the controllability of an electro-hydraulic position servo control system while simultaneously enhancing the anti-jamming ability of a PID controller, a compound PID controller that combines the beetle antennae search algorithm with PID strategy was proposed, and used to drive the position servo control system of the electro-hydraulic servo system. A BAS-PID controller was designed, and the beetle antennae search algorithm was used to tune PID parameters so that the disturbance signal of the system was effectively restrained. Initially, the basic mathematical model of the electro-hydraulic position servo control system was established through theoretical analysis. The transfer function model was obtained by identifying system parameters. Then, the PID parameter-tuning problem was converted into a class of three-dimensional parameter optimization problem, and gains of PID controllers were adjusted using the beetle antennae search algorithm. Finally, by comparing the effectiveness of different algorithms, simulation and experimental results revealed that the BAS-PID controller can greatly enhance the performance of the electro-hydraulic position servo control system and inhibit external disturbances when different interference signals are used to test the system’s robustness.

Optimized PID Controller Based on Beetle Antennae Search Algorithm for Electro-Hydraulic Position Servo Control System.

Active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) is applied to a one-axis gimbal mechanism. The dynamic model of the system is derived and validated from mathematical modeling and practical experiments. Disturbances acting on the complete model of the gimbal mechanism are introduced via base lateral acceleration and angular motion. The ADRC is designed by utilizing an extended state observer for observing and suppressing the effects of external disturbances and internal parameter uncertainties. A PID controller is used to form a basis of comparison for set-point tracking and disturbance rejection performance. The effects of identification errors and observer bandwidth are experimentally investigated. Based on simulation and experimental results, the effectiveness of ADRC in the presence of external disturbances and parameter uncertainties is illustrated.

Hardware Implementation of an ADRC Controller on a Gimbal Mechanism

Hydraulic servomechanism is the typical mechanical/hydraulic double-dynamics coupling system with the high stiffness control and mismatched uncertainties input problems, which hinder direct applications of many advanced control approaches in the hydraulic servo fields. In this paper, by introducing the singular value perturbation theory, the original double-dynamics coupling model of the hydraulic servomechanism was reduced to a integral chain system. So that, the popular ADRC (active disturbance rejection control) technology could be directly applied to the reduced system. In addition, the high stiffness control and mismatched uncertainties input problems are avoided. The validity of the simplified model is analyzed and proven theoretically. The standard linear ADRC algorithm is then developed based on the obtained reduced-order model. Extensive comparative co-simulations and experiments are carried out to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Nonlinear Adaptive Output Feedback Robust Control of Hydraulic Actuators With Largely Unknown Modeling Uncertainties

In order to enhance the anti-jamming ability of electro-hydraulic position servo control system at the same time improve the control precision of the system, a compound control strategy that combines velocity compensation with Active Disturbance Rejection Controller (ADRC) is proposed, and the working principle of the compound control strategy is given. ADRC controller is designed, and the extended state observer is used for observing internal parameters uncertainties and external disturbances, so that the disturbances of the system are suppressed effectively. Velocity compensation controller is designed and the compensation model is derived to further improve the positioning accuracy of the system and to achieve the velocity compensation without disturbance. The compound control strategy is verified by the simulation and experiment respectively, and the simulation and experimental results show that the electro-hydraulic position servo control system with ADRC controller can effectively inhibit the external disturbances, the precise positioning control is realized after introducing the velocity compensation controller, and verify that the compound control strategy is effective.
