Antimicrobial drug use in dogs prior to admission to a veterinary teaching hospital

TL;DR: Results indicated AMDs were frequently administered to dogs prior to admission to the teaching hospital, indicating use of AMDs in animals could be a risk factor for coselection and spread of multidrug-resistant pathogens, and colonization or infection of dogs with such pathogens could have a negative impact on the health of other animals and humans.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparing the Prevalence of Poor Sleep and Stress Metrics in Basic versus Advanced Life Support Emergency Medical Services Personnel.

TL;DR: There is a high prevalence of poor sleep and stress in EMS personnel, with evidence of the highest prevalence among ALS-certified personnel, and interventions could target certain subgroups, such as older ALS personnel, to be most effective.
Journal ArticleDOI

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in Ohio EMS Providers: A Statewide Cross-sectional Study.

TL;DR: The high prevalence of MRSA in Ohio EMS personnel is both an occupational hazard and patient safety concern, and implementing methods to reinforce CDC guidelines for proper hygiene could decrease MRSA found in the EMS setting.
Journal ArticleDOI

Associations between sleep, stress, and cardiovascular health in emergency medical services personnel.

TL;DR: In this article, a cross-sectional survey of CVD-free EMS personnel from 4 US EMS agencies was conducted to quantify the associations between sleep duration and perceived and chronic stress with ideal cardiovascular health among emergency medical services (EMS) personnel from county-based EMS agencies.
