A tool suitable for smoothing the surface of a material or as a scraper comprises a blade having a flat plate portion (12) with a leading edge (14) and an upstanding flange portion (15) angled upwardly and rearwardly from a line spaced rearwardly from the leading edge (14). An elongate shaft handle (13) is fixed to the upstanding flange portion (15) and extends forwardly over the leading edge (14), which extends transversely to it, so that the handle can be used to draw the leading edge in a grading motion. The plate portion (12) and upstanding flange (15) are substantially rectangular.

Surface smoothing tool or scraper

A rake 10 for levelling and smoothing wet uncured concrete comprises an elongate handle 22 and a rake head 24, 34 extending transverse to the handle. A first side of the head defines an elongate blade 136 or a row of teeth or tines 26, and an opposite side of the head defines a curved smoothing surface 25, 34. The curved surface may be made of a cylindrical tube 28, or a curved sheet 34. The curved surface 25 may extend on either side of the row of tines 26.

A tool 1 for fitting insulation 2, 3 in a loft comprises a roll engaging arcuate member 10 and a toothed member 5 which are integrally moulded with a handle portion 15. Insulation is first rolled off a roll 3 by engaging with the arcuate member 10 and is then pushed into the correct position underneath the eaves of a roof by engaging the teeth 6 in the mat 2. The height and width of the tool may be shortened, if desired.
