Research findings concerning burnout prevalence rate among nurses from the medical area are contradictory. The aim of this study was to analyse associated factors, to determine nurse burnout levels and to meta-analyse the prevalence rate of each burnout dimension. A systematic review, with meta-analysis, was conducted in February 2018, consulting the next scientific databases: PubMed, CUIDEN, CINAHL, Scopus, LILACS, PsycINFO and ProQuest Health & Medical Complete. In total, 38 articles were extracted, using a double-blinded procedure. The studies were classified by the level of evidence and degrees of recommendation. The 63.15% (n = 24) of the studies used the MBI. High emotional exhaustion was found in the 31% of the nurses, 24% of high depersonalisation and low personal accomplishment was found in the 38%. Factors related to burnout included professional experience, psychological factors and marital status. High emotional exhaustion prevalence rates, high depersonalisation and inadequate personal accomplishment are present among medical area nurses. The risk profile could be a single nurse, with multiple employments, who suffers work overload and with relatively little experience in this field. The problem addressed in this study influence the quality of care provided, on patients’ well-being and on the occupational health of nurses.

Levels of Burnout and Risk Factors in Medical Area Nurses: A Meta-Analytic Study

El objetivo fue determinar la relacion entre los factores psicosociales laborables y el sindrome de Burnout en personal de enfermeria de una unidad de tercer nivel de atencion a la salud. Material y Metodos: Se trata de un estudio observacional, transversal y analitico en personal de enfermeria de una unidad de tercer nivel de atencion a la salud. Los datos se captaron con el instrumento de factores psicosociales de Silva y el MBI. Se analizaron con el apoyo del SPSS. Resultados: Participaron 163 personas de 21 servicios de la unidad de atencion; 88% eran mujeres, 41,4% laboraba en el turno matutino y 47,5% perciben la presencia de factores psicosociales negativos en su area de trabajo, siendo lo mas frecuente las exigencias laborales, remuneracion del rendimiento y condiciones inadecuadas en su lugar de trabajo. En cuanto al Burnout, 33,3% presentaba agotamiento emocional, 50,8% baja realizacion personal y 17,9% despersonalizacion. El agotamiento emocional se relaciono (p < a 0,05) con seis de las ocho areas de los factores psicosociales evaluados Conclusion: Se confirmo la relacion entre los factores psicosociales laborales y el sindrome de Burnout.

Factores psicosociales y síndrome de burnout en personal de enfermería de una unidad de tercer nivel de atención a la salud

Introduction According to recent statistics, there is a high percentage of refusal of cervical cancer screening using the Pap smear test by women in rural communities in developing countries such as Peru. There are few studies on the reasons to explain said refusal in this country. The objective of this study was to determine the barriers related to the non-acceptance of cervical cancer screening using the Pap smear test in women of childbearing age from a rural Peruvian community. Methods Cross-sectional study, with a total of 892 women of childbearing age from the rural Peruvian community of Marian, Huaraz province, Ancash region, who did not accept screening for cervical cancer using the Pap smear test during their care at the Marian Health Centre. A questionnaire given from September 2017 to April 2018 was used. The information was processed with the statistics programme for social science 22.0 programme, using the Chi-square statistical test. Results For 4-6 years, 52.5% of women refused cervical cancer screening using the Pap smear test. The barriers that showed a statistically significant relationship to the non-acceptance of cervical cancer screening using the Pap test were socio-demographic (age, marital status, education level, occupation and home income) and institutional barriers (counselling for cervical cancer screening, importance of the gender of health personnel administering the screening, history of mistreatment by health personnel, fear or embarrassment of the screening procedure and a delay in sending the results) (p 0.05). Conclusions Socio-demographic and institutional barriers are related to the non-acceptance of cervical cancer screening using the Pap test in women of childbearing age in the rural Peruvian community of Marian, with a lesser emphasis on reproductive barriers. With this in mind, we recommend undertaking broader studies in populations of different age groups, which should be oriented towards the design and application of preventive/promotional programmes by health institutions to promote the participation of community workers with the goal of aiding the identification and control of said barriers, reducing the refusal of cervical cancer screenings by women from rural areas.

Valoración del cuidado de Enfermería por mujeres en proceso de parto después de una intervención

Objetivo: Identificar las barreras para la deteccion temprana del cancer de cuello uterino. Metodo: Revision integrativa de literatura, en bases de datos como Science Direct, Medline, SciELO y Scopus, publicados durante los ultimos seis anos, escritos en ingles, portugues y espanol. Resultados: Los aspectos socioculturales, las estrategias de prevencion empleadas y la dificultad para acceder a la atencion fueron las barreras encontradas en la revision; igualmente, la poca aceptacion de la vacuna contra el virus del papiloma humano y la no asistencia a la citologia cervico-vaginal inciden en la aparicion de numerosos casos de lesiones preneoplasicas. Conclusiones: Se evidencia la necesidad de fortalecer las acciones de educacion, informacion y abogacia del profesional de enfermeria, que contribuyan a reducir la incidencia de esta patologia, lo cual representa un reto importante para el personal de salud.

Barreras para la prevención y detección temprana de cáncer de cuello uterino

Objective: To determine the levels of burnout in the nursing staff of a tertiary hospital in Tunja, Boyaca in Colombia during the months of January to February 2012. Method: A cross sectional study with 22 professionals from the hospital using the MBI (Maslach Burnout Inventory). Data was analyzed on SPSS version 19, looking for Spearman and Pearson correlations for sociodemographic variables, associated with the Burnout Syndrome. Results: For the current study variables, working years in the health institution, hours of night work, rest of the professional in a month and type of employment contract, a (bilateral) significance of 0.05 to 0.01 was obtained for Spearman and Pearson correlations. Conclusions: The current study of the professional could mean that the professional may suffer from depersonalization. It is evident that greater emotional exhaustion occurs within the first 10 years of work, with the increasing link up time the risk decreases. The night work schedule is a risk factor that determines the appearance of burnout. Professionals hired by Service Delivery Order suffer from emotional exhaustion.

Prevalencia de desgaste profesional en personal de enfermería de un hospital de tercer nivel de Boyacá, Colombia

Introduccion: La gestacion y el parto son experiencias significativas, que dejan huella en cada mujer que realiza este transito, por tanto, la aplicacion de estrategias complementarias contribuye a un cuidado mas humano. Objetivo: Describir las terapias complementarias que se pueden aplicar en forma efectiva y segura en mujeres gestantes, para contribuir a un mayor bienestar durante el embarazo y parto. Materiales y metodos: Se realizo una revision integrativa de la literatura, en diferentes bases de datos: Science Direct, Medline, Scielo, Scopus y Ovid; en ingles, portugues y espanol, durante el segundo semestre de 2018 y primero del 2019. Resultados: Se analizaron diferentes terapias alternativas que se usan con mujeres gestantes: la masoterapia, hidroterapia, termoterapia, libertad de movimientos, uso de pelotas, visualizacion de imagenes, musicoterapia; las cuales dieron seguridad en su aplicacion, con resultados beneficos en el binomio madre-hijo. Discusion: las terapias complementarias, son una oportunidad que tiene el profesional de enfermeria para poder aplicarlas en los diferentes contextos en donde se cuida la gestante, si bien existe diversa literatura que senalan los beneficios tanto para la madre como para el feto, es necesario que los profesionales las reconozcan y pongan en practica en los diferentes escenarios de cuidado. Conclusiones: El uso de las terapias complementarias, durante el embarazo y parto de bajo riesgo, son utiles para disminuir las diferentes molestias presentadas durante estas etapas y mejorar asi la experiencia de gestar y parir.

Prevalence of Burnout syndrome in nursing staff of a third level hospital Boyacá, Colombia

Introduction: The postpartum period is a time of contrasts and adaptations which are required of family support and the care of nursing professionals. Materials and Methods: This article is the result of implementing a strategy for nursing homecare for women undergoing postpartum week based on the five processes of care theory Swanson care, leaning on the logical frame work as a strategy for planning, execution and evaluation. Through a nursing situation shows the different needs of mother and child at this stage and the need for support from nursing. Results: As a result of this intervention were identified a cultural diverse practices which endanger he mother during the postpartum period, also the ignorance of many care practices performed on both the mother and the newborn. Discussion and Conclusions: The care of nursing is essential in every phase of postpartum week, as many of the complications in the mother and the newborns occur at this stage. At present the health legislation provides the opportunity to get much closer to the mothers of new born through the establishment of primary care model which aims to bring health personnel to the contexts and realities experienced by the community.
