A wrist rest assembly for use along the front edge of a device to be operated by a person's hands or fingers, such as in front of a computer keyboard, including an elongate base assembly on which is supported an elongate pad. The base assembly has a top portion supporting the pad, a bottom portion adapted to be supported on a horizontal surface and structure that allows the top portion to be supported on the bottom portion with the top surface of the pad at two different distances above that horizontal surface by switching ends of the top portion with respect to the ends of the bottom portion.

A wrist assembly (10) has a base and a layer of a resilient gel supported above the base. The wrist rest assembly is for use adjacent a device operated by a person's hands or fingers, such as a computer keyboard (20), lap-top or portable computer, computer mouse or other input device. A layer of resilient nonwoven material (42) is disposed between the base and at least a portion of the alyer of gel (52) to define, in combination with the layer of gel, a resilient wrist rest support structure supported from the base. A flexible liquid-impervious layer (50) is disposed between the layer of resilient gel and the layer of resilient nonwoven web material.

A dynamic wrist rest for use with a computer keyboard for the prevention of carpel tunnel syndrome is provided. The wrist rest provides for a constant up and down motion of the wrist through an internally mounted pressure sensitive air bladder. The up and down motion can also be provided by a motor and gear driven belt and pulley system that provides a lower speed and high torque which functions to rotate a roller along the interior surface of the support surface of the wrist rest thus creating the up and down motion. The up and down motion can also be provided by a motor driven, internally mounted oblong roller that is mounted for rotation about its axis.
