The cutter device uses a rotating cutting blade and medium pressure inside the hollow component. The blade has an associated support body formed by a holder ring (26,27), which moves along the length of the hollow component. To cut a domed cap off a dome-shaped branch of a component, the ring is placed into a transverse aperture of the tool to surround a support plunger charging the cap. Instead of the ring, a stationary elastomer body may be used. A cutter ring (24) is located next to support ring/elastomer body.

To cut wholly or partially through a workpiece, which is a longitudinal hollow body (2) shaped by an inner high pressure process, the cut is across its longitudinal axis using at least one rotating cutting edge (12,13). To assist the cutting action, a medium pressure (P1) is within the hollow body (2). A support body (5) moves at the cutting edges (12,13) to support the detached section (8), separated by the cutting action, to give cut edges (9,10) with a sharp-edged geometry.

The invention is for a method to produce components from a blank made of deep-drawable material using a free-flowing action medium The method consists in clamping the blank in a forming device in which the action medium applies a pressure to the blank, preforming the blank be elevating the pressure exercised by the action medium in restricted areas of the blank and finish forming the preformed blank with a forming tool

The movement of the punch (14) is halted at least once ahead of the end forming position and the pressure briefly raised and then lowered back to original level with the punch halted. Medium pressure is actively controlled during punch movement, being raised during punch travel against the force of the sheetholder (11) which in turn is lowered during punch movement. Medium pressure is raised after the punch has reached its end position. The forming layout comprises a punch (13) moving between start and end positions and a bottom tool (12) in container with its own feed (17) and bleed (19) for the medium. The sheetholder clamps the sheet edges as shown.

The deforming process involves using a fluid (8) on the component (4). A cutting process follows after the deformation, in the same tool (1, 2). The cutting is carried out by means of fluid jet cutting, so that the same fluid can be used for both working processes. The fluid remaining in the tool can serve to damp the fluid jet (13).

The metal plate (15) in single or double formation is clamped between the upper tool (1) and the lower tool (7) using a holding down device. The two tool halves are closed to form a pressure-tight seal to the closure area (S) surrounding the holding down device. The holding down device after closure of the two tool halves is moved in the direction of the metal plate with a holding force (FN) independent of the closure force (FS). Upper and lower drawing rings (5,14) are incorporated in the upper and lower tools in the direction towards the plate, between which the plate is guided during the shaping process. One or more cutting edges (22) are used, these working in planes (T) along which the tool (2) is divided. The edges can be activated by movement in relation to part at least of the work (4) and in two or more axes at right angles to each other and to the lengthwise axis of the work, and for a distance at least equal to the thickness of the sheet-metal forming the work. Activation can be by displacement of auxiliary material (18) bearing against a fixed cutting edge formed on the shaping tool, using internal high pressure.

In the hydroforming tubular blanks (W), which is economical in machinery and highly-productive, the main press frame has a piston-cylinder closure system (5) acting on a moulding tool with two or more die halves (2, 3), in which high internal pressure will be applied to the tubular blank. Outside the closure system, during die closure, the swaging profile (G) of the die halves preforms the blank. Simultaneously, internal pressure P1 is introduced into the blank. During the remainder of the hydroforming process, the workpiece remains in the mould. Also claimed is the apparatus used for the above process.
