This bibliography covers publications that appeared during  and during the year  when they were not known before the deadline for last year’s bibliography. In this case the year of publication is mentioned in the citation. It follows criteria defined in , being divided into two broad areas: general literature on financial history in section , and specialised material in section . Section  is then subdivided chronologically, and further by geographical area (the complete classification scheme was published in FHR, volume , part , October , pp. –). Ancient history has been abandoned since FHR, ., October , and the bibliography starts now from the Middle Ages. Where there are no entries for a particular section, the heading has been omitted. Abbreviations have been kept to a minimum, but standard abbreviations, such as J. for Journal, Q. for Quarterly, Rev. for Review/Revue, have been used throughout. Short titles are used for references to edited volumes within the section in which they are listed; elsewhere they are cited in full. Doctoral theses and working papers are not included. Articles published in books ‘edited by’ are mentioned only if the bibliographer accessed the index of the book before the publication deadline. English translations of some titles in European, Asian and African languages are used in the bibliography only when the source of the bibliographic citation made them available. Publications on financial history 2006

The purpose of this chapter is to illustrate some concepts that can help researchers and scientists in understanding and managing human resources in condition of uncertainty and ambiguity. Usually, discussion about conceptual issues takes two forms: descriptive or normative. In the first case authors describe effective concepts and successful procedures, while in the second case they set down standards and procedures, which researchers and practitioners are advised to follow. Our approach is a step behind standard descriptive or nonnative approaches, as we are concerned with methods that can be constructed on the basis of the understanding of human action in economics organisation. Thus our purpose is the discussion of a set of concepts necessary to construct tools for grasping and managing human action in organisational context. Widening the set of tools which researchers and managers have at hand is a necessary condition to escape from the condition of a man possessing only an hammer, who will view all problems as problems requiring the pounding of nails.

L'editoria italiana per l'insegnamento delle lingue straniere : storia e geografia

INTRODUCCION La Tesis Doctoral “La Editorial Ricordi y su aportacion a la publicidad italiana de principios del siglo XX” aborda el estudio del cartel publicitario italiano desde una doble perspectiva: artistica y comunicativa, en el periodo que va de finales del siglo XIX hasta la Primera Guerra Mundial. La Casa Ricordi se comporta como una primera agencia de publicidad cuando este concepto era completamente novedoso en Europa. OBJETIVOS A traves del trabajo de campo, visitando el archivo historico Ricordi, la Casa Campari, (ambos en Milan), la sede FIAT (Turin), el gran centro de documentacion bibliomediateca RAI, queriamos encontrar pruebas de la relacion laboral entre la editorial y los ilustradores. Una practica esta, nada habitual en la epoca estudiada. RESULTADOS Como resultados obtenidos, la investigacion supone una contribucion al nacimiento de las primeras empresas graficas italianas, como germen de las futuras agencias publicitarias. Hemos encontrado contratos, encargos, ordenes de pago e incluso, el descubrimiento de un boceto del gran ilustrador Cappiello en los sotanos de la empresa Campari, con anotaciones a mano del propio autor, mostrando el acuerdo para mandar a la impresion. Un boceto sin marca ni producto comercial, algo que se anadiria despues, una vez sellado el acuerdo. CONCLUSIONES La Casa Ricordi nace siendo una copisteria y en menos de un siglo se convierte en la empresa grafica mas potente de Italia y de Europa. El cartel mas grande del mundo, se lo encargan desde Inglaterra a la empresa milanesa para promocionar el Circo Olympia. La Casa Ricordi tenia el mayor archivo musical de Europa y cuando decide ampliar su ambito de actuacion, hace campanas publicitarias integrales. Contribuyo decisivamente al exito del Liberty, un estilo tan cosmopolita como los ilustradores que trabajaban en Ricordi.
INTRODUCTION. The doctoral thesis, “La Editorial Ricordi y su aportacion a la publicidad italiana de principios del siglo XX”, deals with the study of the Italian poster from a double viewpoint: the artistic and the communicative one, in the period from the end of the 19th century until the First World War. The Casa Ricordi is the most advanced one from the technical and business point of view, considering that it has the best musicians and illustrators in this time. AIMS. Through the research work, visiting the Ricordi’s historic files, Campari (Milan), FIAT headquarters (Turin), the big documents center – the medialibrary RAI, we wanted to find proofs of the labour relationship between the publishing houses and the illustrators. This practice was no usual in the studied epoch. RESULTS. As obtained results, the investigation means a contribution to the birth of the first Italian graphics companies, the seed for future publishing agencies. We have found contracts, assignments, payment orders and even the discovery of a sketch from the great illustrator – Cappiello – in the basements of the Campari company. It had some author’s handmade notes, showing the agreement to send to be printed. The sketch had no brand or commercial product, this would be added later, once the agreement was sealed. CONCLUSIONS. The Casa Ricordi was born as a copy shop, and in less than a century it became the most powerful graphics company in Italy and Europe. The largest poster in the world was ordered from England to be done by the Milanese enterprise to promote Olympia Circus. The Casa Ricordi had the biggest musical file archive in Europe and when it decided to increase its action range, it did integral advertising campaigns. It contributed decisively to Liberty’s successful, a style as cosmopolitan as the illustrators who worked in Ricordi
