Physico-chemical characterization of lignins from different sources for use in phenol–formaldehyde resin synthesis

TL;DR: Both structural and thermal characteristics suggest that kraft pine lignin (L1) would be a better phenol (P) substitute in the synthesis of lign in-phenol-formaldehyde (LPF) resins, as it presents higher amounts of activated free ring positions, higher MW and higher thermal decomposition temperature.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enhancing water repellence and mechanical properties of gelatin films by tannin addition.

TL;DR: In order to reduce pollution caused by traditional non-biodegradable plastic films, renewable raw materials from plants and wastes of meat industries have been employed inThis work, a hydrolysable chestnut-tree tannin was used for gelatin modification.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bacterial cellulose films with controlled microstructure–mechanical property relationships

TL;DR: In this article, a tensile behavior has been analyzed in order to discuss the micro-structure-property relationships and network theories have been applied to relate film elastic properties with individual nanofiber properties, where slightly enhanced tensile strength and deformation at break are obtained increasing mold compression pressure, while modulus also increases following a nearly linear dependence upon film porosity.
Journal ArticleDOI

A common strategy to extracting cellulose nanoentities from different plants

TL;DR: In this paper, a new succession of specific chemical treatments including extractives (E), prealkalization (PA), alkalization, acetylation (Ac), and acid hydrolysis (H) treatments have been developed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure and Properties of a Semifluorinated Diblock Copolymer Modified Epoxy Blend

TL;DR: In this paper, the phase behavior and linear viscoelasticity of PaF-b-PCL were investigated, and the PaF block self-assembled into wormlike and spherical micelles in the thermoset system.
