Journal ArticleDOI
Obesity and risk of COVID-19: analysis of UK biobank.
TL;DR: The hypothesis was that BMI and waist circumference would be independently associated with COVID19, and the association between obesity and laboratory confirmed COVID-19 within UK Biobank was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vahé Nafilyan,Vahé Nafilyan,Ted Dolby,Cameron Razieh,Cameron Razieh,Charlotte Gaughan,Jasper Morgan,Daniel Ayoubkhani,Sarah Walker,Kamlesh Khunti,Kamlesh Khunti,Myer Glickman,Thomas Yates,Thomas Yates +13 more
TL;DR: This article examined inequalities in COVID-19 vaccination rates among elderly adults in England and found that the greatest disparities were seen between ethnic and religious groups, where the lowest rates were in people of black African and black Caribbean ethnic backgrounds, where only 67.2% and 73.8% had received a vaccine, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
Obesity, walking pace and risk of severe COVID-19 and mortality: analysis of UK Biobank.
Thomas Yates,Cameron Razieh,Cameron Razieh,Francesco Zaccardi,Francesco Zaccardi,Alex V. Rowlands,Samuel Seidu,Melanie J. Davies,Melanie J. Davies,Kamlesh Khunti +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors found that self-reported slow walkers appear to be a high risk group for severe coronavirus disease-2019 outcomes independent of obesity status, and the OR of severe COVID-19 in overweight and obese individuals was 1.26 (1.07, 1.48) and 1.53, 2.19 (0.61, 8.70), respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI

Journal ArticleDOI
Association of Timing and Balance of Physical Activity and Rest/Sleep With Risk of COVID-19: A UK Biobank Study.
Alex V. Rowlands,Alex V. Rowlands,David E Kloecker,Yogini Chudasama,Melanie J. Davies,Nathan P Dawkins,Nathan P Dawkins,Charlotte L. Edwardson,Charlotte L. Edwardson,Clare L Gillies,Kamlesh Khunti,Cameron Razieh,Cameron Razieh,Nazrul Islam,Francesco Zaccardi,Thomas Yates,Thomas Yates +16 more
TL;DR: The findings indicate the risk of COVID-19 was consistently ∼1.2 times higher per ∼40-minute increase in variability in timing of proxy measures of sleep, indicative of irregular sleeping patterns.
