Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication at a UE. A wireless devices may use a shared or unlicensed spectrum configuration based on a prioritization scheme for the shared frequency resources. The prioritization scheme may assign a priority to different operators and may enable devices associated with a prioritized operator to access the shared band over non-prioritized devices. For example, a nonprioritized device may win the channel and begin communicating over the shared or unlicensed spectrum. The non-prioritized device may then periodically cease transmission for a set interval (i.e., a preemption opportunity) and listen for an indication that a prioritized device wishes to use the channel. If a prioritized device begins transmitting (or, in some cases, if the prioritized device transmits a medium preemption indication) the non-prioritized device may relinquish control of the channel.

Medium access for shared or unlicensed spectrum

Techniques are described for wireless communication. A first method includes performing a clear channel assessment (CCA) for a first node associated with a first operator in a deployment of operators over an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, and transmitting data over the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band when the CCA is successful. The data may be transmitted by the first node in accordance with an agreement between the first operator and a second operator in the deployment of operators. A second method includes receiving over an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, at a user equipment (UE), a first transmission from a first node associated with a first operator in a deployment of operators. The first transmission may include data originating from a second operator in the deployment of operators.

Techniques for transmitting data over an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band in accordance with an agreement between operators

Base stations can exchange information indicating that the base stations are transmitting (or going to transmit) downlink signals over one or more unlicensed frequency bands. For example, a first indication that a first base station is reserving a first subset of a plurality of unlicensed frequency bands for downlink transmission can be transmitted over one or more interfaces between the first base station and one or more second base stations. The one or more second base stations can then refrain from transmitting potentially interfering downlink transmissions over the first subset of the plurality of unlicensed frequency bands. Information identifying the first subset may be stored by the one or more second base stations.

Coordinating base station downlink transmissions in unlicensed frequency bands

A spectrum management system includes a circuit that identifies reference points for a secondary communication system. The spectrum management system then determines spectrum resources for the secondary communication system based on whether the reference points are positive or negative.

Base station and method for determining a spectrum allocation in a wireless network

A first User Equipment (UE), a second UE, a first Radio Network Node (RNN), and methods therein for controlling interference between transmissions in a first system and transmissions in a second system. The first system comprises the first UE and the first RNN serving the first UE. The second system comprises the second UE and a second RNN serving the second UE. The first system has a first priority in a first part of a shared spectrum and the second system has a second priority in the first part of the shared spectrum, wherein the first priority is higher than the second priority. The method in the first UE comprises transmitting a signal to a second RNN that is to perform a downlink transmission to the second UE, which signal is configured to control the transmission of the second RNN.
