TL;DR: In this article, the second-order double-scattering contribution to the ion-ion t ϱ 1 ϱ 2 interaction is calculated and found to contribute at most an effect of 10% on σ R.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, the interplay of the nuclear and Coulomb interaction in the fragmentation of relativistic 11 Li projectiles incident on several targets is investigated, and the obtained nuclear cross sections show marked differences with the “experimental” data.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the Coulomb break-up of two pieces of weakly bound nuclei passing by a large-Z nucleus is studied and a reliable separation of multipolarities can be done.

TL;DR: In this article, the Coulomb dissociation cross section for Li on Au was calculated for different models of the distribution of dipole response strength in {sup 11}Li on Au. All the available models fail in accounting for the low energy behavior of the cross section.
Abstract: The Coulomb dissociation cross section for {sup 11}Li on {sup 197}Au is calculated for different models of the distribution of dipole response strength in {sup 11}Li. All the available models fail in accounting for the low energy behavior of the cross section.

TL;DR: The elastic-scattering angular distribution of {ital p}+{sup 11}Li at {ital E}{sub lab}=100 MeV is evaluated within Glauber's theory, and the matter density of {sup 11]Li, calculated within constrained Hartree-Fock theory.
Abstract: The elastic-scattering angular distribution of {ital p}+{sup 11}Li at {ital E}{sub lab}=100 MeV is evaluated within Glauber's theory. The {ital p}-{sup 11}Li optical potential is evaluated within the {ital t}{rho}'' approximation with {rho}{sup 11}Li, the matter density of {sup 11}Li, calculated within constrained Hartree-Fock theory. Medium effects on the nucleon-nucleon {ital t} matrix, are fully taken into account. The effect of the halo neutrons on {ital d}{sigma}/{ital d}{Omega} is assessed through comparison with the {ital p}+{sup 12}C and {ital p}+{sup 9}Li systems at {ital E}{sub lab}=100 and 800 MeV.

TL;DR: In this paper, a Glauber-type formalism was developed to study the excitation of giant resonances in heavy-ion collisions at intermediate energies, where contributions from the nuclear and the Coulomb interaction as well as their interference are easily accomplished within this approach.
