Journal ArticleDOI
Validity, prognostic value and optimal cutoff of respiratory muscle strength in patients with chronic heart failure changes with beta-blocker treatment.
Lutz Frankenstein,Manfred Nelles,F. Joachim Meyer,Caroline Sigg,Dieter Schellberg,B. Andrew Remppis,Hugo A. Katus,Christian Zugck +7 more
TL;DR: This study fills the gap between trials targeting respiratory muscle on a functional basis and the resultant prognostic information with regard to BBL, and found that BBL lowered the optimal PImax cutoff values for risk stratification without changing the measured values of PImAX.
Journal ArticleDOI
Is serial determination of inspiratory muscle strength a useful prognostic marker in chronic heart failure
Lutz Frankenstein,F. J. Meyer,Caroline Sigg,Manfred Nelles,Dieter Schellberg,Andrew Remppis,Hugo A. Katus,Christian Zugck +7 more
TL;DR: This is the first study to investigate the prognostic information of the changes of PImax over time, regarding both short-term and long-term morbidity and mortality in patients with stable CHF, and found neither the absolute nor the relative change of Pimax to be significant predictors for the primary and secondary endpoints.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gender and age related predictive value of walk test in heart failure: do anthropometrics matter in clinical practice?
Lutz Frankenstein,Andrew Remppis,J. Graham,Dieter Schellberg,Caroline Sigg,Manfred Nelles,Hugo A. Katus,Christian Zugck +7 more
TL;DR: The six-minute walk test is a valid tool for risk prediction in both male and female CHF patients and correcting 6 WT distance for height, weight or BMI alone, or adjusting for age, does not increase the prognostic power of this tool.
