Actualmente, las empresas enfrentan una competencia agresiva, por lo que implementar estrategias para alcanzar la competitividad es elemental. En este sentido, en Logistica, el uso adecuado de los recursos es imprescindible. El impacto en la ganancia que tienen el almacenaje y el transporte, conlleva la implementacion de acciones para contrarrestarlo. Un paletizado efectivo puede contribuir a reducir costos. El Problema de Carga del Pallet (PLP) procura la optimizacion del espacio del pallet para lograr cargar maxima de producto debidamente empacado. El uso practico y beneficios del PLP han dado pie a su estudio en la busqueda su solucion. Este articulo presenta una revision literaria de 30 estudios para mostrar las caracteristicas principales y los metodos de solucion propuestos para proveer la base teorica y las maneras como se ha tratado el PLP. Con el entendimiento de estas propuestas de solucion, se busca tener el sustento para elaborar un modelo nuevo.

Nowadays, businesses face a fierce competition. Hence, implementing strategies to achieve competitiveness is elemental. For that purpose, in the logistics field, the proper use of resources is a must. According to several experts, storing and transportation have a high impact in the overall supply chain profit. Therefore, lowering their impact by increasing efficiency contribute to a higher profitability. An efficient palletizing can cause to easily ship more goods onto a pallet with the consequent savings in transportation and storage. The denominated Pallet Loading Problem (PLP) focuses on finding space optimization to load the maximum quantity of packed product onto the pallet. This article presents a literature review of the most prominent approaches with the objective of showing the main characteristics and solution methods proposed by researchers. Thus, the understanding of these solution approaches can help in the development of new strategies or approaches to deal with the palletizing.

A Literature Review on the Pallet Loading Problem Una Revisión Literaria del Problema de Carga del Pallet

The article refers to an algorithm in the field of mining processes, Trace Alignment, aimed at detecting anomalies in a sequence of patterns and identify common patterns. The analysis of the traces generated by the business process may take considerable time, given that a large part of the process, today, are computerized. The algorithm in question is parallelized using the shared memory paradigm, specifically OpenMP, CUDA and OpenCL. The parallel proposed design has two stages: a first construction where the similarity matrix and a second where pairs or sets of traces at the same time is aligned. The results indicate that, with the proposed design, the best times are obtained using OpenMP.

Implementación del Algoritmo Trace Alignment Empleando Técnicas de Programación Paralela Trace Alignment Algorithm Implementation Using Parallel Programming Techniques

To improve space utilization, the method for handling spaces plays an important role in the container loading problem. This paper deals with loading a set of cuboid items into a single container to maximize the utilization of the space. Six space partitions are presented and a set of rules for merging spaces is proposed. Through experimentation, using a benchmark data set, the influence of partitioning and merging are analyzed. The experimental results show that partitioning and merging in which all loaded boxes have one hundred percent support from below can produce good space utilization.

Effectively handling three-dimensional spaces for container loading

In embedded system designs, most researches are involved in the hardware or software design, separately. These methods are effective and efficient for hardware or software (HW/SW) building, respectively. In an entire embedded system, hardware and software co-exist. In addition, software may consist of system and application parts. Thus these HW/SW methods cannot provide an overall and effective evaluation for the performance and cost of an entire embedded system. With the flexibility and configurability of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), this paper investigates an application-oriented top-down scheme (AOTDS) of FPGA-based embedded system design from the application layer down to hardware system. The AOTDS can help reduce the redundancy of system resources and increase their reuse. Since embedded systems are inherently application-specific, rather than all-round like general purpose computers, the AOTDS is natural and efficient for embedded system designs. The efficiency and effectiveness of AOTDS are verified through the implementation of an FPGA-based embedded system with 3D graphics applications.
