A new generation of the United States National Land Cover Database: Requirements, research priorities, design, and implementation strategies
Limin Yang,Suming Jin,Patrick Danielson,Collin G. Homer,Leila Gass,Stacie Bender,Adam Case,Catherine Costello,Jon Dewitz,Joyce Fry,Michelle Funk,Brian Granneman,Greg C. Liknes,Matthew B. Rigge,George Xian +14 more
TL;DR: The NLCD 2016 design aims to provide innovative, consistent, and robust methodologies for production of a multi-temporal land cover and land cover change database from 2001 to 2016 at 2-year intervals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Conterminous United States land cover change patterns 2001–2016 from the 2016 National Land Cover Database
Collin G. Homer,Jon Dewitz,Suming Jin,George Xian,Catherine Costello,Patrick Danielson,Leila Gass,Michelle Funk,James D. Wickham,Steven Stehman,Roger F. Auch,Kurt H. Riitters +11 more
TL;DR: The 2016 National Land Cover Database (NLCD) product suite as discussed by the authors provides important new information on land change patterns across CONUS from 2001 to 2016, including land cover, urban imperviousness, and tree, shrub, herbaceous and bare ground fractional percentages.
Journal ArticleDOI
National Land Cover Database 2019: A new strategy for creating clean leaf-on and leaf-off Landsat composite images
Suming Jin,Jon Dewitz,Patrick Danielson,Brian Granneman,Catherine Costello,Kelcy Smith,Zhe Zhu +6 more
Journal ArticleDOI
National Land Cover Database 2019: A comprehensive strategy for creating the 1986-2019 forest disturbance product
Suming Jin,Jon Dewitz,Congcong Li,Daniel G. Sorenson,Zhe Zhu,Rakibul Islam Shogib,Patrick Danielson,Brian Granneman,Catherine Costello,Adam Case,Leila Gass +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors designed a comprehensive strategy to integrate a continuous time series forest change detection method and a discrete 2-date forest detection method to produce the NLCD 1986-2019 forest disturbance product, which shows the most recent forest disturbance date between the years 1986 and 2019 for every 2- to 3-year interval.
