A device, including one or more Communication Physical Unclonable Function (CPUF) and key storage devices, the CPUF devices each comprising: a coherent Electromagnetic (EM) radiation source; a spatial light modulator (SLM) connected to the coherent EM radiation source; a volumetric scattering medium connected to the SLM; a detector connected to the volumetric scattering medium; and one or more processors or circuits connected to the detector and one or more processors or circuits connected to the SLM. A communication protocol is also provided.

Physical key-protected one time pad

At least one machine accessible medium having instructions stored thereon for authenticating a hardware device is provided. When executed by a processor, the instructions cause the processor to receive two or more device keys from a physically unclonable function (PUF) on the hardware device, generate a device identifier from the two or more device keys, obtain a device certificate from the hardware device, perform a verification of the device identifier, and provide a result of the device identifier verification. In a more specific embodiment, the instructions cause the processor to perform a verification of a digital signature in the device certificate and to provide a result of the digital signature verification. The hardware device may be rejected if at least one of the device identifier verification and the digital signature verification fails.

Device authentication using a physically unclonable functions based key generation system

Embodiments of methods, systems, and storage medium associated with providing access to encrypted data for authorized users are disclosed herein. In one instance, the method may include obtaining a derived value for an authenticated user based on user personalization data of the authenticated user, and generating a user-specific encryption key based on the derived value. The derived value may have entropy in excess of a predetermined level. The user-specific encryption key may enable the authenticated user to access the encrypted data stored at the storage device. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Providing access to encrypted data

Some implementations disclosed herein provide techniques and arrangements for provisioning keys to integrated circuits/processors. A processor may include physically unclonable functions component, which may generate a unique hardware key based at least on at least one physical characteristic of the processor. The hardware key may be employed in encrypting a key such as a secret key. The encrypted key may be stored in a memory of the processor. The encrypted key may be validated. The integrity of the key may be protected by communicatively isolating at least one component of the processor.

Secure key storage using physically unclonable functions

A system, device, and method for binding metadata, such as information derived from the output of a biometric sensor, to hardware intrinsic properties by obtaining authentication-related metadata and combining it with information pertaining to a root of trust, such as a physical unclonable function. The metadata may be derived from a sensor such as a biometric sensor, the root of trust may be a physical unclonable function, the combination of the metadata and root of trust information may employ a hash function, and output from such a hash process may be used as an input to the root of trust. The combined information can be used in interactive or non-interactive authentication.

System and device binding metadata with hardware intrinsic properties

A device specific key is generated within an electronic device by providing a challenge to a physically unclonable function (PUF) structure integrated within the electronic device, where the PUF structure outputs a specific response based upon a specific challenge provided to the PUF structure. The PUF response is provided to a cryptographic module integrated within the electronic device, and a device specific key is generated by the cryptographic module utilizing a cryptographic key generation algorithm. The device specific key is generated based upon a combination of input data including the PUF response and data that is specific to the electronic device.
