Hip fracture care-Latin America.
Luis G Padilla Rojas,Sergio Quintero Hernández,José María Jiménez Ávila,Roberto Enrique López Cervantes,Rafael Amadei Enghelmayer,César Pesciallo,Germán Garabano,Madeline C MacKechnie,Jose Eduardo Quintero,Kodi E Kojima +9 more
TL;DR: National hip fracture care guidelines in 4 of the largest countries in Latin America are described, describing national guidelines, audits, standard treatment approaches in each country and regional policies; with the goal of understanding and comparing the different guidelines.
Journal ArticleDOI
Masquelet technique in post-traumatic infected femoral and tibial segmental bone defects. Union and reoperation rates with high proportions (up to 64%) of allograft in the second stage.
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe union, reoperation and failure rates after using the induced membrane (IM) technique with ≥50% allograft over autograft to treat infected femoral and tibial segmental bone defects (SBD).
Journal ArticleDOI
Extended trochanteric osteotomy (ETO) and fluted tapered modular stems in revision hip arthroplasty. Does ETO integrity or consolidation, really matter?
Germán Garabano,Alan Maximiliano Gessara,César Pesciallo,Leonel Perez Alamino,Hernán Del Sel +4 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors assess if the fracture and/or nonunion of extended trochanteric osteotomy (ETO) affected the behavior and survival of modular fluted and tapered distal fixation stems.
Journal Article
Infiltración intraoperatoria para el manejo del dolor en la artroplastia total de rodilla
TL;DR: Lower pain rates and narcotics consumption after total knee replacement generate happier patients, which leads to an early start of physical therapy and earlier discharge from hospital, which should be considered a strong tool against pain after TKR.
Journal ArticleDOI
Defectos óseos segmentarios infectados en huesos largos: tratamiento con técnica de Masquelet.[Masquelet technique for the treatment of infected segmental long-bone defects]
Germán Garabano,César Pesciallo,Alfredo Montero Vinces,Diego José Gómez,Fernando Bidolegui,Alberto Cid Casteulani +5 more
TL;DR: The Masquelet technique, or induced membrane technique, offers a reasonable and simple alternative to a highly challenging problem, such as infected segmental bone defects, achieving a consolidation rate greater than 90% even in complex cases.
