Maintaining time alignment with multiple carriers is contemplated. A group of uplink carriers (UL CC sets) that operate with a single Timing Advance (TA) may be determined, and a TA value may be applied to a specific UL CC set. A wireless transmit/receive unit's (WTRU) capability of using multiple TAs may define a group index of a few bits for each UL CC set. A TA Command received in a Random Access Response message may be used to apply the TA value to each UL carrier of the UL CC set. The WTRU may determine which UL CC set the TA value applies to based on which DL carrier the command was transmitted from. The WTRU may determine which UL CC set the TA value applies to based on the Group Index being explicitly provided in the command. The WTRU may release multi-CC configurations upon Time Alignment Timer (TAT) expiry.

Maintaining time alignment with multiple uplink carriers

A method for handover of a wireless subscriber communication unit from a first base station to a second base station in a wireless network is described. The method comprises at the wireless subscriber communication unit receiving a handover command message from the first base station. At the first base station, the method comprises sending a scheduling request message to the second base station, in response to an acknowledgement message sent from the wireless subscriber communication unit. The method further comprises, at the second base station, scheduling, in response to the scheduling request message, at least one uplink scheduling resource (UL-SCH) for the wireless subscriber communication unit to transmit a handover (HO) confirmation message to the second base station; and receiving a handover confirmation message from the wireless subscriber communication unit on the at least one uplink scheduling resource (UL-SCH).

The method further comprises determining, from the at least one scheduling priority parameter, at least one user transmission priority level associated with at least one PDN connection of at least one radio bearer; and scheduling at least one uplink data packet transmission in response to the at least one user transmission priority level.

Apparatus and method for scheduling in a wireless communication system

The establishment and reception of a service, such as a multimedia service, over different networks is described. A first and second network coupled by a home gateway may respectively employ first and second radio access technologies. An interface between the radio access technologies may communicate downlink channel setup requests. Uplink and downlink control signals are communicated via a first network. In response to the exchange of uplink and downlink control signals via a first network, multimedia data is received via the second network.
