TL;DR: Normal expression of the E-cadherin/catenin membrane complex is common in esophageal adenocarcinomas and occurs early in the dysplasia/carcinoma sequence in Barrett's esophagus, indicating that disturbances in this cell adhesion complex might be important in tumorigenesis and tumor progression in this disorder.

TL;DR: It may be distinct clinically and biologically from adenocarcinoma of the esophagus that does not develop in association with Barrett's epithelium, and long-term survival was better in patients with adenOCarcinomas associated with Barrett’s esophageal cancer.
