Some Inflammatory Eye Conditions due to Oral Sepsis.

TL;DR: It is thought that sympathetic pphthalmitis was purely a reflex nervous phenomenon, and on these grounds were discussed paralysis of the various ocular muscles, which was in certain cases stated to be due to irritation of the branches of the fifth cranial nerve.
