TL;DR: Compared to other anesthetic agents, ketamine alone does not appear to improve the efficacy of ECT, but ketamine+other anesthetic combinations may confer a short-term advantage in improving depressive symptom at the early stages of EECT.

A comparison of propofol and thiopental use in electroconvulsive therapy: Cognitive and efficacy effects
TL;DR: Results suggest that thiopentone has advantages for use as an anesthetic agent with ECT compared with propofol, and highlights the need for further investigation of the impact of anesthetic agents on the cognitive side effects and efficacy of ECT.
