Multiplication of electronic excitations in CaO and YAlO3 crystals with free and self-trapped excitons
Cheslav Lushchik,Eduard Feldbach,A. Frorip,Marco Kirm,Aleksandr Lushchik,Aarne Maaroos,Indrek Martinson +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the creation of secondary electron-hole pairs by hot photoelectrons has been detected in YAlO3 for the first time, and the excitonic mechanism of multiplication of electronic excitations has a high efficiency in crystals with self-trapping excitons of small radii.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multiplication of electronic excitations in nanophosphors Lu2O3:Eu3+ and Lu2O3:Tb3+
Vladimir N. Makhov,Vladimir N. Makhov,Cheslav Lushchik,Aleksandr Lushchik,Marco Kirm,Zhifang Wang,Weiping Zhang,Min Yin,Jing-Tai Zhao +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, Lu 2 O 3 :Eu 3+ and Tb 3+ nanocrystalline powders with the particle size varying from 46 to 6 nm were studied under excitation by synchrotron radiation in the photon energy range (up to ~225 eV) covering the region where the processes of multiplication of electronic excitation occur.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dependence of long-lived defect creation on excitation density in MgO single crystals
Aleksandr Lushchik,Tiit Kärner,Cheslav Lushchik,Eugene Vasil'chenko,S. Dolgov,Vigen Issahanyan,P. Liblik +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the processes of the creation, stabilization and annealing of anion Frenkel defects have been investigated in MgO and mgO: be single crystals irradiated by α particles, uranium swift ions or fast neutrons at 300 K and also additionally irradiated with 5 keV electrons at 6 K. The peculiarities of the process of nonimpact creation and stabilization of point defects under conditions of a high density of electronic excitations formed in the tracks of swift heavy ions have been considered by the example of Mg O crystals, where the creation energy of

On the mechanisms of radiation damage and prospects of their suppression in complex metal oxides
Aleksandr Lushchik,Cheslav Lushchik,Vitali Nagirnyi,Sapargali Pazylbek,Oleg Sidletskiy,K. Schwartz,E. Shablonin,A. Shugai,Evgeni Vasil'chenko +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the influence of impurity ions on the increase/decrease in the resistance against irradiation of metal oxides with X-rays and electrons (low-dense excitation) or ∼2 GeV Au198 and U238 ions providing a superhigh density of electronic excitations along cylindrical tracks (LET > 30 keV nm−1) has been investigated for fcc MgO single crystals with close ion masses or Lu3Al5O12 and Gd2SiO5 with large
Journal ArticleDOI
Relaxation of excitons in wide-gap CsCl crystals
TL;DR: In this paper, the optical properties of free and self-trapped excitons in simple cubic CsCl crystals of high purity were investigated and the energy gap was estimated as Eg=8.4 eV at 5 K.
