A compact dual-frequency ( 38 / 60 GHz ) microstrip patch antenna with novel design is proposed for 5G mobile handsets to combine complicated radiation mechanisms for dual-band operation. The proposed antenna is composed of two electromagnetically coupled patches. The first patch is directly fed by a microstrip line and is mainly responsible for radiation in the lower band ( 38 GHz ). The second patch is fed through both capacitive and inductive coupling to the first patch and is mainly responsible for radiation in the upper frequency band ( 60 GHz ). Numerical and experimental results show good performance regarding return loss, bandwidth, radiation patterns, radiation efficiency, and gain. The impedance matching bandwidths achieved in the 38 GHz and 60 GHz bands are about 2 GHz and 3.2 GHz , respectively. The minimum value of the return loss is − 42 dB for the 38 GHz band and − 47 for the 60 GHz band. Radiation patterns are omnidirectional with a balloon-like shape for both bands, which makes the proposed single antenna an excellent candidate for a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system constructed from a number of properly allocated elements for 5G mobile communications with excellent diversity schemes. Numerical comparisons show that the proposed antenna is superior to other published designs.

A Novel Dual-Band (38/60 GHz) Patch Antenna for 5G Mobile Handsets

This paper presents an ultrawideband (UWB) meander-line electromagnetic band gap structure for mutual coupling reduction in E-plane of MIMO antennas operating in the frequency range 3.1–10.6 GHz. Planar UWB MIMO antenna with edge to edge gap of 8 mm has been designed and fabricated on FR4 substrate with dielectric constant 4.4 and height 1.6 mm. An array of four unit cells of electromagnetic bandgap structures arranged in top and bottom layers of the substrate connected through vias has been placed in between antennas to achieve the reduced mutual coupling in the ultrawideband range. Minimum 1 dB and maximum 14 dB reduction in mutual coupling is achieved for 3.4–8 GHz frequency range. Minimum 8 dB and maximum 24 dB mutual coupling reduction is achieved for range of 8–10.6 GHz. Measured results and surface current of MIMO antennas also validate the mutual coupling reduction. Envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) less than 0.02 and channel capacity loss (CCL) less than 0.5 bps/Hz are achieved.

Meander-line electromagnetic bandgap structure for UWB MIMO antenna mutual coupling reduction in E-plane

Measurement of parameters of $M$ -ary phase shift keying (MPSK) signals is significant for radar and communication systems. Traditional parameter measurement methods require very high sampling rates and heavy processing to estimate the key parameters of amplitude, carrier frequency, phases, and discontinuity locations. We propose a multichannel cooperative sampling system using the finite rate of innovation sampling theorem to address this problem. In our two-channel system, the main channel estimates the MPSK amplitude and carrier frequency using a nonlinear process and time-staggered sampling structure, while the cooperative channel determines phases and discontinuity locations with an annihilating filter using the main channel’s estimated carrier frequency. Our system enables recovery of these parameters from as few as $2K+6$ samples from MPSK signals with $K$ segments. We also present a hardware platform implementing the structure. The simulation and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method.

A compact ultra-wideband (UWB) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna is presented. The MIMO antenna consists of four monopoles which are printed on FR4 substrate, whose impedance bandwidth is from 2 to 12 GHz, and the isolation of two adjacent antennas is less than−20 dB in mostly frequency band. The current distribution of the antenna is discussed by simulation, and the radiation characteristics of the antenna are improved by increasing the parasitic radiation patch and digging holes in the radiation patch. Four monopoles are placed with polarisation orthogonality, and the adjacent units are separated by slot to cut off the coupling current on the floor, thus effectively improving the isolation of the antenna.

Design of a compact ultra-wideband MIMO antenna

The PSK symbol rate estimation is the important part of parameter estimation in the radar recognition. Aiming at improving the traditional estimation method's limitations due to the carrier-frequency, the sensitivity of phase noise and the time-domain histogram's disadvantage, the PSK intermediate- frequency signal was mixed to the relatively strict baseband signal firstly. Secondly, the PSK sub-code edge's detection function using the Harr Wavelet Base, the edge position and adaptive adjustment scales were defined. Lastly, the PSK symbol rate estimation method based on the Two-Scale CWT was proposed. The method not only improves the real-time and anti-noise performance, but also increases the accuracy. A method of IR small target fusion recognition is proposed based on the D-S evidence theory in this paper.This method firstly distilled small target character from the far infrared and middle infrared image,then determined the basic mass function based on that character using fuzzy c-means method,in the end identified the target based on the D-S evidence theory.The experimentation show that this method can identified the target effectively in the case of the two sensor worked abnormality in the same time.
