Intra‐Articular Injection of Mesenchymal Stem Cells for the Treatment of Osteoarthritis of the Knee: A Proof‐of‐Concept Clinical Trial
Chris Hyunchul Jo,Young Gil Lee,Won Hyoung Shin,Hyang Sun Kim,Jee Won Chai,Eui Cheol Jeong,Ji Eun Kim,Hackjoon Shim,Ji Sun Shin,Il Seob Shin,Jeong Chan Ra,Sohee Oh,Kang Sup Yoon +12 more
TL;DR: Results showed that intra‐articular injection of 1.0 × 108 AD MSCs into the osteoarthritic knee improved function and pain of the knee joint without causing adverse events, and reduced cartilage defects by regeneration of hyaline‐like articular cartilage.
Journal ArticleDOI
Platelet-rich plasma stimulates cell proliferation and enhances matrix gene expression and synthesis in tenocytes from human rotator cuff tendons with degenerative tears.
TL;DR: It is suggested that PRP might be used as a useful biological tool for regenerative healing of rotator cuff tears by enhancing the proliferation and matrix synthesis of tenocytes from tendons with degenerative tears.
Journal ArticleDOI
Does platelet-rich plasma accelerate recovery after rotator cuff repair? A prospective cohort study.
Chris Hyunchul Jo,Ji Eun Kim,Kang Sup Yoon,Jiho Lee,Seung Baik Kang,Jae Hyup Lee,Hyuk Soo Han,Soo Hyun Rhee,Sue Shin +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) was used to accelerate the recovery after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair in pain relief, functional outcome, overall satisfaction, and enhanced structural integrity of repaired tendon.
Journal ArticleDOI
Platelet-rich plasma for arthroscopic repair of large to massive rotator cuff tears: a randomized, single-blind, parallel-group trial.
Chris Hyunchul Jo,Ji Sun Shin,Young Gil Lee,Won Hyoung Shin,Hyang Sun Kim,Seung-yeon Lee,Kang Sup Yoon,Sue Shin +7 more
TL;DR: The application of PRP for large to massive rotator cuff repairs significantly improved structural outcomes, as evidenced by a decreased retear rate and increased CSA of the supraspinatus compared with repairs without PRP augmentation.
Does Platelet-Rich Plasma Accelerate Recovery After Rotator Cuff Repair?
Chris Hyunchul Jo,Ji Eun Kim,Jiho Lee,Seung Baik Kang,Jae Hyup Lee,Hyuk Soo Han,Soo Hyun Rhee,Sue Shin +7 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that PRP application during arthroscopic rotator cuff repair did not clearly demonstrate accelerated recovery clinically or anatomically except for an improvement in internal rotation, and additional investigations are necessary to further determine the effect of PRP.
