Die Dependencia, vor wenigen Jahren noch das Thema der entwicklungstheoretischen Diskussion und von manchen als Konigsweg gefeiert, ist in Verruf geraten. Es ist schon beinahe Mode geworden, sich von dieser Theorierichtung zu distanzieren (z.B. Elsenhans 1982: 153) bzw. der ganzen Schule (ebenfalls pauschal) pauschales Theoretisieren vorzuwerfen (siehe z.B. Tavares 1981). Wer, wie der Autor dieses Artikels, trotz aller Kritik die Dependencia nicht in Bausch und Bogen verdammt (Boeckh 1982), steht unversehens als entwicklungstheoretischer Nostalgiker da (Osterkamp 1984: 85f). Selbst in Lateinamerika ist es mittlerweile moglich, so dependenztrachtige Themen wie die Rolle des Kontinents in der neuen Weltwirtschaftsordnung so gut wie ohne Referenz zur Dependencia-Debatte zu behandeln (Portales 1983). Auch Prebisch vermag, ohne auf die Dependencia Bezug zu nehmen, als Entwicklungsrezept fur die 80-er Jahre ungeruhrt eine Neuauflage des Cepalismo der 60-er Jahre vorzuschlagen, wenn er dafur pladiert, das die Akkumulation privatwirtschaftlich auf Kosten des Luxuskonsums gesteigert und der interne Markt durch eine staatlich induzierte Umverteilung der Einkommen erweitert werden sollen (Prebisch 1981, 1982). Wie es scheint, hat die Dependencia wenig Spuren hinterlassen, sie ist, nachdem sie schon so oft totgesagt worden ist, offenbar entgultig out.
