An inhaler device 2 comprising an actuation mechanism having an indexing system 22,24 for advancing a medicament carrier comprising a base with a plurality of medicament pockets or blisters and a peelable lidding sheet covering the blisters. An opening system 30 for peeling the lidding sheet from the medicament carrier to open a blister, and a common actuator 10,42 for the indexing system and the opening system. Wherein the common actuator 10,42 is movable 34 between a first position and a second position via an intermediate position, and wherein the progression of the opening system 30 is disproportional to the progression of the indexing system 12,24 during movement of the common actuator 10, 42. The speed of movement of the opening system 30 relative to the actuator may vary 10,42. The opening system 30 may be delayed until operation of indexing 22,24 is 30% complete. The movement of the common actuator 10,42 from a first position results in advancement of the indexing system 22,24, and wherein only movement of the actuator 10,42 beyond the intermediate position results in actuation of the opening system 30. In another aspect the mechanism comprises first and second indexers, wherein the progression of the first indexer is disproportional to the progression of the second indexer.

An inhaler device

A multi-dose dry powder inhaler with a blister folding device is provided. The inhaler comprises a housing containing a blister strip, and a blister opening device. The blister strip comprises a plurality of individual blisters, each blister containing a dose of medicament for inhalation by a user. The blister opening device comprising a blister support element for supporting one of said blisters, and a blister folding element co-operable with the blister support element, the blister folding element and the blister support element being movable relative to each other between a first position, permitting movement of said blister into or onto the blister support element, and a second, burst, position in which the blister folding element has co-operated with the blister support element. Movement from the first position to the second position causes two spaced apart portions of said blister to each fold relative to the remainder of the blister to produce two spaced apart openings, each opening extending along the circumference of the blister bowl, beginning and terminating at points located on the fold line No piercing of the blister at any stage is required.

FIELD: medicine.SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medical equipment, namely to a dry powder inhaler. Device comprises a body forming a chamber, a strip of blisters containing blisters. Blisters comprise a dose of a medicament for inhalation by a user. Each blister comprises a blister lid attached to the blister cavity. Strip of blisters is located inside the chamber. Inhaler comprises a drive element and a step-by-step movement system for sequential movement of each blister into the blister opening position in response to movement of the drive element. Device has a mouthpiece through which a dose of the drug is inhaled by the user, and a device for opening the blister. Device for opening a blister comprises a support element of the blister to support one of said blisters and a blister flexion element interacting with the supporting element of the blister. Blister flexion element and the blister supporting element are configured to move relative to each other between a first position allowing movement of said blister into or onto the support element of the blister, and a second opening position in which the blister flexion element has already performed a joint action with the support member of the blister. Movement from the first position to the second position leads to bending each of the two spaced apart portions of said blister relative to the rest of the blister along the corresponding fold line and to the support member of the blister to form two spaced apart holes, from which each hole extends along circumference of blister cavity, with beginning and ending in points located on fold line so that when user inhales through mouthpiece, through blister through two holes air flow is formed for entrainment of dose, contained in the blister, and its transfer from the blister and through the mouthpiece into the user's airways.EFFECT: facilitation of fast and unobstructed output of the powder from the blister, which improves accuracy of the dose emitted by the inhaler.15 cl, 12 dwg
