Early in 2020, an unexpected and hazardous situation occurred threatening and challenging all of humankind. A new coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2 was first identified in Wuhan, China, and its related disease, called COVID-19, has induced one of the most dangerous crises at a global level since World War II. The ultra-fast transmission rate of the virus and the high mortality rate led the World Health Organization (WHO) to officially declare the situation a pandemic. Governments, for their part, were forced to implement unprecedented mobility restrictions and cease a large part of their economic activities. These facts triggered multiple reactions from people who expressed their feelings mainly through social networks (like Twitter), using them as vectors of information and opinion. In this paper, a study carried out in different Spanish speaking countries (Chile, Mexico, Peru, and Spain) is presented, which addresses the manner in which the evolution of the pandemic outbreak has affected the emotions expressed by individuals on Twitter over the last 13 months (from March 2020 to March 2021). We used a total of 3 million tweets to achieve this task. We made use of a well-known framework called EmoWeb to capture the dynamic variation in the sentimental value of pandemic-related words. The results reflect to what degree the pandemic and its derived problems have influenced and affected the population of the selected countries in different ways. The outcomes also illustrate the evolution over time of opinions published on Twitter regarding several topics related to COVID-19.

Detecting Emotional Evolution on Twitter during the COVID-19 Pandemic Using Text Analysis.

The economic effects of COVID-19 on companies that are part of world tourism have been devastating, half of the year 2020 has been paralyzed worldwide and seems to be taking up more time. Tourism indicators are concerned about its negative results and what this represents for a country's economy. The state of Oaxaca is characterized by having important tourist destinations, now, the situation reveals an uncertain panorama for people who live on tourism.

It has been documented that there is a positive relationship between a worker’s subjective well-being and productivity, and individuals who are happy in their work have a better attitude when performing activities: happier employees are more productive. Turnover intention, on the other hand, may arise from various factors rather than merely the need to increase a salary, as the traditional economic theory states. The fact that the work performed does not contribute to the worker’s life purpose, that there might be a bad relationship with colleagues, or else might play a role in the search for a new job. This study aims to show the relevance of meaningful work in happiness at work and turnover intention. Data from 937 professionals, in 2019, in Mexico were analyzed. Regression analyses were used to assess the impact of meaningful work on happiness at work and turnover intention. Results show that meaningful work, feeling appreciated by coworkers, and enjoyment of daily tasks significantly predict happiness at work. A logit model showed that having a job that contributes to people’s life purpose, feeling appreciated, and enjoyment of daily tasks reduces turnover intention. The main contribution of the study is to identify the importance of elements of purpose and meaning in the work context, contributing to economic theory. Limitations include the use of single items from a more extensive survey, which might diminish the validity and reliability of the constructs under scrutiny. Future directions point towards the need for more robust indicators of the variables of interest, but the findings emphasize the importance of research focused on the meaning workers attribute to their own work and the effects this attribution might have on their own wellbeing, organizational results, and productivity, including a return of investment (ROI) indicators.

COVID-19: It marks a before and after in Mexico, final point or period?

Abstract The topic of the health as a planetary affair is returned dramatically to the limelight in the public debate due to the current COVID-19 emergency. The lockdowns imposed almost worldwide have undoubtedly had the beneficial effect of limiting infections, but at the same time generating a civilizational collapse. This Policy brief is an invitation to action addressed to policy makers and health professionals to improve the physical, mental and spiritual (systemic) vitality of the person (salutogenesis) through the application of the Health Circles and + Immunity method, an approach inspired by Integrative-Systemic Medicine and salutogenic transdisciplinary approach.

Organismic Health in Planetary Emergency Health Situations: A Transdisciplinary Salutogenic Approach

The current SARS-CoV-2 pandemic is a historical event that has come to change the way of life for humanity; where the population is the main subject of cause and solution. Considering the global variation of propagation, each country has taken different positions, decisions and resources where the time for making different decisions has also been an important factor. In Mexico, the SARS CoV-2 situation has been confronted mainly with government decisions and the actions of the population. The successes or failures have impacted various dimensions of society in each of the states that make up the country. In this research, some impacted life dimensions are analyzed: Social, mental, educational, economic and environmental. It is possible to say that the impact of the pandemic were influenced, among other aspects; by the state of health and nutrition associated with the lifestyle in which the population was at the arrival of the pandemic. This impact is also influenced by commercial activities, which are linked to the economic mobility of those who buy and those who sell. Also, other aspects that have influenced the impact of this pandemic; it is possible to highlight the lack of culture on the part of the population in the use of face masks and the non-obligatory use of it by the leaders. This, added to various other factors, have had a great impact on the number of infected cases and deaths in the country; primarily in Mexico City and the State of Mexico. It is worth mentioning that, despite the negative impact due to the pandemic, there are also positive aspects. Finally, it is possible to say that it is necessary for the population to develop more awareness. The population has a definitive role in containing the pandemic and to incorporate the new changes, in its life in order to precisely preserve.
