Journal ArticleDOI

Life cycle assessment of hydrogen production via electrolysis – a review

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reviewed twenty-one studies that address the LCA of hydrogen production technologies, a majority of them employing electrolytic technologies, and concluded that electrolysis using wind or hydropower generated electricity is the best hydrogen production technology compared to those using conventional grid electricity mix or fossil fuel feedstocks.
Journal ArticleDOI

Photocatalytic methanol and methane production using captured CO2 from coal-fired power plants. Part I – a Life Cycle Assessment

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the energy and ecological potential of two photocatalytic S2F concepts in comparison to conventional technologies for power generation and methanol/methane production.
Journal ArticleDOI

Photocatalytic methanol and methane production using captured CO2 from coal power plants. Part II – Well-to-Wheel analysis on fuels for passenger transportation services

TL;DR: In this article, the authors determined the environmental impacts of photocatalytically produced methanol or methane as fuel for passenger transportation services and compared them with gasoline and battery electric vehicles powered by electricity from the grid.
