Journal ArticleDOI
Low injury rate strongly correlates with team success in Qatari professional football
TL;DR: Lower injury incidence was strongly correlated with team ranking position and prevention of injuries may contribute to team success in Qatar first-division football clubs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Platelet-rich plasma does not enhance return to play in hamstring injuries: a randomised controlled trial
Bruce Hamilton,Johannes L. Tol,Emad Almusa,Sirine Boukarroum,Cristiano Eirale,Abdulaziz Farooq,Rodney Whiteley,Hakim Chalabi +7 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that there is no benefit of a single PRP injection over intensive rehabilitation in athletes who have sustained acute, MRI positive hamstring injuries, and intensive physiotherapy led rehabilitation remains the primary means of ensuring an optimal return to sport following muscle injury.
Journal ArticleDOI
At return to play following hamstring injury the majority of professional football players have residual isokinetic deficits
Johannes L. Tol,Bruce Hamilton,Cristiano Eirale,Patrice Muxart,Philipp Jacobsen,Rod Whiteley +5 more
TL;DR: Normalisation of isokinetic strength seems not to be a necessary result of the successful completion of a football-specific rehabilitation programme, as compared with the uninjured leg, 67% of the clinically recovered hamstring injuries showed at least one hamstring iskinetic testing deficit of more than 10%.
Journal ArticleDOI
Football cannot restart soon during the COVID-19 emergency! A critical perspective from the Italian experience and a call for action.
TL;DR: The most important issue has been the sharp increase in the number of people infected which is causing a significant increase in acute respiratory failure cases (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2)) and acute respiratory distress syndrome requiring hospital admission and intensive care treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tone Bere,Juan-Manuel Alonso,Arnlaug Wangensteen,Arnhild Bakken,Cristiano Eirale,H Paul Dijkstra,Hosny Ahmed,Roald Bahr,Nebojsa Popovic +8 more
TL;DR: Preventive measures should focus on contusions, ankle sprains, and thigh muscle strains, as well as measures aimed to reduce upper respiratory tract infections.
