Mechanism of action of sodium hypochlorite
Carlos Estrela,Cyntia Rodrigues de Araújo Estrela,Eduardo L. Barbin,Júlio César Emboava Spanó,Melissa Andréia Marchesan,Jesus Djalma Pécora +5 more
TL;DR: The aim of this work is to discuss the mechanism of action of sodium hypochlorite based on its antimicrobial and physico-chemical properties.
Journal Article
Antimicrobial and chemical study of MTA, Portland cement, calcium hydroxide paste, Sealapex and Dycal
Carlos Estrela,Lili Luschke Bammann,Cyntia Rodrigues de Araújo Estrela,Reginaldo Santana da Silva,Jesus Djalma Pécora +4 more
TL;DR: The results showed that the antimicrobial activity of CHP was superior to those of MTA, Portland cement, Sealapex and Dycal, for all microorganisms tested, presenting inhibition zones of 6-9.5 mm and diffusion zones of 10-18 mm.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antimicrobial efficacy of ozonated water, gaseous ozone, sodium hypochlorite and chlorhexidine in infected human root canals
C. Estrela,Cyntia Rodrigues de Araújo Estrela,Daniel de Almeida Decurcio,Augusto César Braz Hollanda,Julio Almeida Silva +4 more
TL;DR: The irrigation of infected human root canals with ozonated water, 2.5% NaOCl, 2% chlorhexidine and the application of gaseous ozone for 20 min was not sufficient to inactivate E. faecalis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of Successful Root Canal Treatment
Carlos Estrela,Roberto Holland,Cyntia Rodrigues de Araújo Estrela,Ana Helena Gonçalves de Alencar,Manoel Damião Sousa-Neto,Jesus Djalma Pécora +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss relevant factors associated with patient's health, tooth and dentist that could account for a successful root canal treatment (RCT) in endodontically treated tooth.
Journal ArticleDOI
Method to evaluate inflammatory root resorption by using cone beam computed tomography.
Carlos Estrela,Mike Reis Bueno,Ana Helena Gonçalves de Alencar,Rinaldo Mattar,José Valladares Neto,Bruno Azevedo,Cyntia Rodrigues de Araújo Estrela +6 more
TL;DR: CBCT seems to be useful in the evaluation of IRR, and its diagnostic performance was better than that of periapical radiography.
